- Legal Services Day is celebrated every year on 9th of November in all the states Authorities.

- National Education Day of India is celebrated on 11 November every year
- The Day is an annual observance in India to commemorate the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad
- Maulana Abul Kalam Azad was the first education minister of independent India, who served from 15 August 1947 until 2 February 1958.

Dubai to host World Tolerance Summit
- Dubai plans to launch a tolerance award and teach the values of tolerance in schools.
- The tolerance award would be given by Dubai-based International Institute for Tolerance (IIT), which organises the summit.
- The first winner of the award is expected to be announced in 2020 and the award would be held under patronage of his Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

11,379 farmers committed suicide in 2016
- The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) said that 11,379 farmers committed suicide in India in 2016.
- The NCRB in its latest Accidental Death and Suicide report for 2016 says that there were 948 farmer suicides every month, or 31 suicides every day. The last report was released in 2015.
- As per the data in the report, the number of farmer suicides in the country has plunged to 11,379 in 2016 from 12,360 in 2014 and 12,602 in 2015.
- Overall, the data suggests that while farmer suicides have dipped by about 21%, those by farm labourers have risen by 10%.
- The NCRB report also states that a vast majority of farmers who died by suicide in India were men, while women accounted for just 8.6% of farmer suicides in the country.
SC paves way for temple at disputed site at Ayodhya, alternative land for mosque
- In one of the most important and most anticipated judgements in India’s history, a 5-judge Constitution bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi put an end to the more than a century old dispute.
- The Supreme Court in a unanimous verdict granted the entire 2.77 acre of disputed land in Ayodhya to deity Ram Lalla in a set of four directions.
- A 5-judge Constitution bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi also directed the Centre and the Uttar Pradesh government to allot a 5-acre land to Muslims at a “prominent” place in Ayodhya for building a mosque.
Integrated Check Post of Kartarpur Corridor inaugurated by the Prime Minister at Dera Baba Nanak in Punjab
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi has formally inaugurated the Integrated Check Post of the Kartarpur Corridor.
- Kartarpur Sahib Corridor is a 4.7 kilometre long passage that connects Dera Baba Nanak Sahib in India’s Gurdaspur and Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan’s Kartarpur.
- Narendra Modi flagged off the first batch of 500 pilgrims led by Akal Takhat Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh.
- The state-of-the-art Passenger Terminal Building is on 15 acres land. The fully air conditioned building akin to an airport has over 50 immigration counters for facilitating about 5000 pilgrims a day.
- The corridor will facilitate visa-free movement but Indian pilgrims are required to carry their passports and will have to just obtain a permit to visit Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara (Pakistan) , which was established by Guru Nanak Dev in 1522.

India’s first elephant memorial comes up in Mathura
- India-based conservation charity Wildlife SOS unveiled the country’s first elephant memorial in Mathura .
- The memorial symbolises the sacrifice of these gentle giants who lost their lives while suffering brutality at the hands of humans.
- Most elephants used in circuses and tourist rides are taken from the wild and undergo a lifetime of misery.
- This unique memorial with stone boulders and engraved black granite plaques names some elephants who suffered this fate.
- The memorial has been set up with the support of UP forest department.

Nomura slashes India’s FY20 GDP forecast to 4.9% from 5.7% earlier
- Japanese brokerage Nomura massively cut its GDP forecast to a low 4.9 percent for the year from 5.7 percent earlier.
- For 2020-21 (FY21) Nomura has predicted India’s GDP Growth rate at 6.1%.
ADB approves $300 million for power transmission expansion in Bangladesh
- The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a 300 million dollar loan for a project to expand power transmission lines in Greater Dhaka and western zone of Bangladesh.
- The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank is considering 200 million dollars in co-financing to fund transmission lines, substations and an enterprise resource planning system. The assistance also comprises a 750,000 dollar grant from China’s Poverty Reduction and Regional Cooperation Fund.
- The project will improve the reliability and efficiency of the electricity supply in Greater Dhaka and western zone of Bangladesh, helping to bolster economic growth and achieve the government target of electricity for all by 2021.
- The project will construct 40 km of transmission lines and 4,450 megavolt-ampere (MVA) of substations in Greater Dhaka as well as 368 km of transmission lines, 3,070 MVA of substations and 20 bay extensions in the western zone.
- It will also establish an enterprise resource planning system, a drone inspection centre to improve operational efficiency and enhance workspace safety in the executing agency, the Power Grid Company of Bangladesh Ltd.
- The government and executing agency will contribute 249 million dollar equivalent toward the 750 million dollar total cost of the project which is due for completion by June 2024.

Moody’s cuts India’s credit outlook to negative
- Global ratings agency Moody’s cut its outlook for India’s credit ratings to “negative” from “stable”, citing the ongoing economic slowdown, financial stress among rural households, weak job creation, and the liquidity crunch in non-banking financial companies.
- Moody’s has affirmed India’s Baa2 long-term sovereign rating, the second-lowest investment grade score, but said the negative outlook indicated that an upgrade was unlikely in the near term.
Karnataka Gramin Bank launches Mobile ATMs in Rural Areas to Push Digitization
- Karnataka Gramin Bank (KGB) has launched ‘mobile ATMs’ in Kalaburagi among several other districts in the state to boost digitisation in rural areas
- The special vehicle includes an ATM and a screen to show videos of different banking schemes.
- The project was assisted by a Financial Inclusion Fund by the National Bank of Agriculture and Rural Development.
- The mobile ATMs will go to the doorsteps of the farmers and make them aware of the banking schemes and digital operating systems.

Justice Sanjay Karol takes oath as Chief Justice of Patna High Court
- Justice Sanjay Karol was sworn in as the chief justice of the Patna High Court
- The oath was administered by Bihar Governor Phagu Chauhan at Raj Bhavan.
- Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi were present at the oath-taking ceremony besides other dignitaries.
- Justice Karol was earlier the chief justice of Tripura High Court.
Anjani Kumar appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Republic of Mali
- Anjani Kumar (IFS:2003) has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Republic of Mali.
- He is expected to take up the assignment shortly

Sanskrit Bharati Vishwa Sammelan begins in New Delhi
- Thousands of Sanskrit lovers from 17 countries are attending Sanskrit Bharati Vishwa Sammelan, the three-day mega event that began in New Delhi.
- Minister of State for External Affairs V. Muraleedharan said Sanskrit continues to be prevalent in the society as it is used by the people across the country.
- The Minister said, Sanskrit words are found in most of the Indian languages.
- Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr.Harsh Vardhan was also present on the occasion.
19th IORA Council of Ministers Meeting in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
- The United Arab Emirates (UAE), as the incoming IORA Chair, will host the 19th IORA Council of Ministers (COM) Meeting in Abu Dhabi under the theme of “Promoting a Shared Destiny and Path to Prosperity in the Indian Ocean”.
- At the COM, the UAE will assume the Chairship of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) for the period 2019-2021. The Chairship passes from the Republic of South Africa, which has been IORA Chair for the period 2017-2019. The People’s Republic of Bangladesh will assume the position of Vice Chair of IORA (also for 2019-2021), and form part of the Troika along with the UAE (as incoming Chair) and South Africa (as past Chair).
- The UAE, as a maritime nation, recognises the enduring importance of the ancient trade routes connecting the Middle East to South and Southeast Asia, and coastal East Africa which heralded the dawn of globalisation in the Indian Ocean region

- The fifth edition of Global Exhibition on Services, GES 2019 is being held from November 26 to 28 at Bengaluru in Karnataka.

Indo-Russian joint tri-service exercise to be held from December 10-19
- The first-ever joint tri-service exercise between India and Russia codenamed INDRA 2019 will be conducted from December 10-19.
- Company-sized mechanised contingents, fighter and transport aircraft as well as ships of respective Armies, Air Forces and Navies will participate in this 10-days exercise.
- INDRA 2019 is expected to enhance interoperability between both National Armed Forces to jointly undertake operations under the UN flag.

France clinches Fed Cup with epic win over Australia
- France defeated Australia, 3-2, to claim their first Fed Cup title in 16 years, held in Perth, Australia.
- Fed Cup is an international team competition in women’s tennis.
- Caroline Garcia and Kristina Mladenovic of France surpassed Ashleigh Barty and Samantha Stosur, 6-4, 6-3, winning the deciding doubles match to break the tie.
- This was France’s third Fed Cup title and first since they beat the United States in 2003.
China Open 2019: Kento Momota defeats Chou Tien-chen to defend Fuzhou crown, win 10th title this year
- Kento Momota won his 10th title of a remarkable year as Japan’s world number one defeated Chou Tien-chen to retain his Fuzhou China Open crown.
- Home hope Chen Yufei similarly successfully defended the women’s title with a gritty victory over Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara.
Shafali is youngest Indian to score international fifty, surpasses Tendulkar’s 30-year-old record
- Fifteen-year-old Shafali Verma became the youngest Indian cricketer to score a half-century in international cricket, her 49-ball 73 in the first T20 International against West Indies surpassing Sachin Tendulkar’s 30-year-old record.
- Playing in only her fifth T20I, Shafali put the West Indies attack to the sword, blasting six fours and four sixes on way to her maiden fifty at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium.
- Shafali achieved the feat at 15 years and 285 days, surpassing batting legend Tendulkar, who had notched up his maiden Test fifty at 16 years and 214 days.

Former Chief Election Commissioner TN Seshan passed away
- Former Chief Election Commissioner Tirunellai Narayana Seshan has passed away
- Seshan was a retired 1955 batch Indian Administrative Service officer of the Tamil Nadu cadre,
- Seshan had led the Election Commission from 1990 to 1996 and he was the 10th Chief Election Commissioner of India
- He had received the prestigious Ramon Magsaysay Award, considered Asia’s Nobel, for his initiatives in making the electoral process more transparent.
