Every year Staff Selection Commission releases the notification to recruit the candidates for the posts of Junior Engineer under various departments. The SSC JE online application has started. SSC JE Study Plan: Exam Pattern
Having an idea of exam pattern is important to understand the demand of the exam. Let us take a quick look at the exam pattern before we get into the SSC JE study plan. The SSC JE exam consists of two stages or Papers:-
Paper-I
- It is an online Computer Based Test (CBT)
- This paper consists of three sections
- The SSC JE Paper-I consists of 200 marks in total
- It has a negative marking of 0.25 marks
- Candidates have the option to choose between parts A(Civil), B(Electrical), C(Mechanical) as per their engineering disciplines and the remaining two sections remain common.

How to Start SSC JE Preparation?
- Understanding the Exam Pattern: Once you have gone through the exam pattern as explained above, you will get a fair enough idea about what the exam demands and what you need to focus on according to your strengths and weaknesses.
- Understanding the Syllabus: Syllabus is one very important aspect of the SSC JE study plan. Go through the detailed SSC JE syllabus after you have understood the exam pattern to know the topics you have to prepare for each subject in order to clear the exam.
- Go through Previous Year Papers: Previous year papers help you to devise your SSC JE study plan. Go through the previous year papers to understand the type of questions that are asked in the exam and the level of questions you need practice for.
- Make a Proper Time-table: Make a time-table and sticking to it is an important part of your SSC JE study plan. You need to make a time table so that you cover your syllabus on time. Make sure to make a realistic time table which you can follow according to your time availability.

- It is an important part of Paper-I which candidates usually tend to ignore.
- Current Affairs is an important part of your preparation and must be included in your SSC JE study plan.
- Candidates must cover the daily current affairs or attempt daily current affairs quiz.Â
- Candidates who do not wish to cover daily cover can cover the weekly current affairs.
- Also, refer to the free monthly current affairs PDFs and monthly current affairs quizzes.
- Static topics must also be covered simultaneously.
2. General Intelligence and Reasoning
- Cover each topic with basics.
- Practice some questions form each topic.
- Start attempting sectional tests.
- Overall the candidates might not face much of difficulty in this section.
3.General Engineering (Civil/Structural, Electrical and Mechanical)
- Candidates must be well versed with the syllabus of their respective engineering subjects.
- Candidates must brush up their basics of the engineering subjects.
- Look for important topics that are mostly asked form the previous year papers.
- Theoretical part plays an important role in the General Engineering section.
- Once, the theoretical part is covered, candidates should start solving numerical on the topics.
