Unique kind of digital school health platform launched in puducherry
What is the news :
- Tamilisai Soundararajan, the elected official of Puducherry, has launched a Digital School Health Platform for kids within the Union Territory of Puducherry.
- Under the National Digital Health Mission, Puducherry creates a digital public health ecosystem.
- By the second week of August, four-building pieces of the digital ecosystem would be established and implemented within the first phase.
- These include creating a health identity database for the entire population, like Aadhaar, the ‘Digi doctor,’ a list of health professionals from various medical systems, the National Health Infrastructure Registry, and a private health record for every person who maps past and present data.
About the platform :
- The Health Department will enter the private information of all government school children onto a portal to stay track of their health records as a part of this project.
- After visiting, schools for medical screening, health care personnel will submit the children’s health information to the password-protected portal.
- The Department of Health, Puducherry, and Axis Bank collaborated on this platform.Â
- The entire ecosystem is voluntary, and data privacy and security are integrated into the architecture.
- The health details could be accessed by doctors, teachers and parents of students.

- The program, implemented by the National Health Authority and led by the Union Health Ministry.
Aim :
- The Program aims to create a robust public health ecosystem that’s citizen-centric and provides a continuum of care supported accessibility and affordability
Benefits :
- Screening of students would help determine their nutrition level and help know whether they are anaemic .
- Accordingly, early intervention could be done.
- the health status of around 2. 4 lakh children would be available on the portal for authorised healthcare professionals to monitor.
- the department to include children at Anganwadis also under the programme.
