1). Impede (Verb) बाधा डालना

Definition: delay or prevent (someone or something) by obstructing them; hinder.

Synonyms: hinder, obstruct, hamper, handicap, hold back, hold up, delay, interfere with, disrupt, retard, slow

Antonyms: advance, aid, allow, assist, encourage

Usage: the sap causes swelling which can impede breathing

 

2). Deteriorate (Verb) बिगड़ जाना

Definition:  become progressively worse.

Synonyms: worsen, get worse, decline, be in decline, degenerate, decay;

Antonyms: approve, compliment, elevate, grow, improve

Usage: relations between the countries had deteriorated sharply

 

3). Drastic (Adjective) भीषण

Definition: likely to have a strong or far-reaching effect; radical and extreme.

Synonyms: extreme, serious, forceful, desperate, dire, radical, far-reaching, momentous, substantial;

Antonyms: mild, moderate

Usage: a drastic reduction of staffing levels

 

4). Unearth (Verb) खोदकर निकालना

Definition: find (something) in the ground by digging.

Synonyms:  dig up, excavate, exhume, disinter, bring to the surface, mine, quarry, pull out, root out, scoop out, disentomb

Antonyms: conceal, hide, cover, lose, miss

Usage: workmen unearthed an ancient artillery shell

 

5). Foreword (Noun) प्रस्तावना

Definition: a short introduction to a book, typically by a person other than the author

Synonyms: preface, introduction, prologue, preamble, opening remarks, opening statement, preliminary matter, front matter

Antonyms: conclusion, addendum, epilogue

Usage: the foreword is usually re-written or extended to inform the reader of the changes

 

6). Legion (Noun) – भीड़

Definition: a vast number of people or things

Synonyms:horde, host, throng, multitude, crowd, drove, mass, mob, rabble, gang, swarm, flock, herd, body, pack, score, mountain

Antonyms: few, numbered

Usage: legions of photographers and TV cameras

 

7) Evident (Adjective) प्रत्यक्ष

Definition:  clearly seen or understood; obvious.

Synonyms:obvious, apparent, noticeable, conspicuous, perceptible, perceivable, visible, observable, discernible, transparent, clear,

Antonyms: concealed, doubtful, uncertain, unclear, vague

Usage: she ate the biscuits with evident enjoyment

 

8). Protégé (Adjective) शागिर्द,आश्रित

Definition: a person who is guided and supported by an older and more experienced or influential person.

Synonyms: pupil, student, trainee, apprentice

Antonyms: role model, guardian, mentor

Usage: Ruskin submitted his protégé’s name for election

 

9). Rival (Noun) प्रतिद्वंद्वी

Definition: a person or thing competing with another for the same objective or for superiority in the same field of activity.

Synonyms: competitor, opponent, contestant, contender, challenger

Antonyms: partner, ally

Usage: he has no serious rival for the job

 

10). Outlast (Verb) – बहुत समय जीवित रहना

Definition: live or last longer than.

Synonyms:  outlive, survive, live after, remain alive after,

Antonyms: cease, fall apart, fail, lose, shoot

Usage: the kind of beauty that will outlast youth
