 Answers:

1). Answer c

(2/5) of the work completed by Q and R in 8 days

(2/5)*(Q + R)’s whole work = 8

(Q + R)’s whole work = 8*(5/2) = 20 days

(P + Q + R)’s whole work = 15 days

P’s one day work = (1/15) – (1/20) = 5/(15*20) = (1/60)

P can complete the work alone in 60 days.

(1/60)*x = (3/5)

X = 36 days

2). Answer a

A can complete the whole work in,

= > 2/3*A’s whole work = 6

= > A’s whole work = 9 days

A’s one day work = (1/9)

(A + B)’s one day work = (1/6)

B’s one day work = (1/6) – (1/9) = (9 – 6)/54 = 3/54 = 1/18

B can complete the work in 18 days.

Efficiency ratio, B: C = 1: 2

Day ratio, B: C = 2: 1

2’s = 18

1’s = 9

‘C’ can complete the work in 9 days.

3). Answer d

Time taken by P = 9*5/3 = 15 days

Q = 3*7/3 = 7 days

R = 4*5/2 = 10 days

(P + Q + R)’s one day work = (1/15) + (1/7) + (1/10) = 65/210

(P + Q + R)’s 2 day work = (65/210)*2 = 13/21

Remaining work = 1 – (13/21) = 8/21

Remaining work done by P alone in,

(8/21)*15 = 40/7 = 5 5/7 days

4). Answer b

Total units of work = 32*20= 640 units

Work done in 8 days = 32*8= 256 units

Remaining work = 640 -256 = 384 units

Let the number of men left after 8 days be x

So,

32-x men completed the remaining 384 units in 16 days

So,

(32-x)*16 = 384

512 – 16x = 384

16x = 128

X= 8 men

5). Answer a

Let the number of days required be x

M1*D1*H1 = M2*D2*H2

30*20*7 = 42*5*x

X = (30*20*7)/(42*5)

X = 20 days

6). Answer d

A’s one day work = (1/25)

B’s one day work = (1/20)

(A + B)’s one day work = (1/25) + (1/20) = (25 + 20)/(25*20)

= > 9/100

(A + B)’s 5 day work = (9/100)*5 = 9/20

Remaining work = 11/20

A can complete the remaining work in,

(11/20)*25 = 55/4 = 13 ¾ days

7). Answer b

(x – 5)/15 + x/18 = 1

(18x – 90 + 15x)/(18*15) = 1

33x – 90 = 270

33x = 360

X = 360/33 = 120/11 = 10 10/11 days

8). Answer b

5 men = 8 women

8 women = 12 boys

15 men and 4 women and 24 boys = 24 women + 4 women + 16 women = 44 women

Women                 days            hours

8                           60               8

44                         ?                  12

(8*60*8) = (44* x days *12)

X = (8*60*8)/(44*12) = 80/11 = 7 3/11 days

9). Answer c

Rajesh’s one day work = (1/20)

Rajesh’s 4 days work = (4/20) = 1/5

Remaining work = 1- 1/5 = 4/5

(4/5)*Yuva’s whole work = 12

Yuva’s whole work = 12*(5/4) = 15

Yuva’s one day work = 1/15

(Rajesh + Yuva)’s one day work = (1/20) + (1/15)

= > (20 + 15)/(20*15)

= > 7/60

(Rajesh + Yuva)’s whole work = 60/7 = 8 4/7 days

10). Answer a

(Ravi + Manoj)’s one day work = (1/15)

Ganesh’s one day work = (1/40)

Efficient ratio = > Ravi: Ganesh = 2: 1

Day ratio = > Ravi: Ganesh = 1: 2

2’s = 40

1’s = 20

Ravi can do the work in 20 days.

Ravi’s one day work = (1/20)

Manoj’s one day work = (1/15) – (1/20) = (20 – 15)/(20*15) = 1/60

Manoj can do the work in 60 days.
