By seeing the trend, the cut-off for the year 2018 is greater than the cut-off for the year 2017. There is a considerable increase in the PO cut-off in consecutive years. So it is also believed that the cut-off for the year 2019 may also get an increase. But its mere prediction, as many other factors, are involved in the cut-off fixation. Also, the cut-off varies for each state across the country based on their individual vacancy. Now the vacancy for this year is increased.
IBPS PO Prelims Cut Off:
The Prelims exam is the first stage of the IBPS PO recruitment process. The prelims exam includes three sections namely the English language, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability. The IBPS PO prelims cut-off is the gateway for the mains exam. You have to clear both the sectional cut-off and the overall cut-off. There is also a penalty of 1/4th of each wrong answer.
Total Marks = Score obtained in English Language + The score obtained in Reasoning Ability + The score obtained in Quantitative Aptitude
Candidates who cleared the prelims exam will get eligible to appear for the IBPS PO Mains Exam. Aspirants who cleared the prelims and mains exam will get the eligibility to appear for the Interview. All the applicants can check the IBPS PO Previous Year Cut-off marks, from the below table.
IBPS PO Mains Cut off:
IBPS PO mains exam is the second stage of recruitment. This exam consists of four sections namely the English language, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, Banking Economy & General Knowledge. After finishing the four sections, an online mode descriptive test will appear on the screen. In this, you have to type a letter-writing and an essay.
Total Marks = Score obtained in English Language + The score obtained in Reasoning and computer aptitude +Â The score obtained in data interpretation and analysis + The score obtained in general awareness + The score obtained in the descriptive test.
The mains cut-off is out of 225. The marks for the interview are out of 100. Then in the final score calculation, the weightage for mains and interviews is in the ratio of 80:20 respectively.
IBPS PO Cut off will be announced for each level (Prelims & Mains). The Cut off will be fixed only by the authorized IBPS exam Board. The candidate who applied for IBPS should obtain the minimum cut-off based on their category only considered as passed the level.
IBPS PO Normalisation of Scores:
According to IBPS,
- The corrected scores obtained by each candidate in different sessions are normalized using the equi-percentile method.
- Scores up to two decimal points are taken for calculation purposes.
What is normalization?Â
- Normalization is a common phenomenon in most of the bank exams conducted today. It is a process by which IBPS evaluates the performance of candidates based on similar exam parameters, especially the difficulty level of the exam.
- The exams conducted by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection often take place in various shifts in many centers across the country. The sectional and overall level, as well as the topics, vary for each slot. The questions may be easier in one slot and comparatively difficult in the other.
- So evaluation should be fair. For that purpose, the IBPS normalizes the scores obtained by the candidates in different shifts of the exam. So using the normalization process the difficulty level of exam across various shifts is adjusted.
- For example, assume in a shift, 50 candidates gave their exam and the paper is difficult. In that shift percentile rank of each candidate is calculated using the formula given below;
- Also in other shifts where the difficulty level is hard, the equi-percentile rank of each candidate is obtained using the formula. Thus after normalization of scores obtained by each candidate, a cut-off is fixed and candidates are selected based on that.
- So candidates don’t worry if your paper is tougher than that compared to other sessions, as the normalization process will adjust the difficulty level.
