1) Attune (Verb) ग्रहणशील या जागरूक बनाना

Definition: Make receptive or aware.

Synonyms: Accustom, Adjust, Adapt, Acclimatize

Antonyms: Confuse, Disarray, Disorder, Disorganize

Usage: Attuned as we have become to political grandstanding on the purpose of democracy, we may not have imagined that something so prosaic as statistics can alter our perception of how it is actually working for us.

 

2) Prosaic (Adjective) — गद्यात्मक

Definition: Having or using the style or diction of prose as opposed to poetry; lacking imaginativeness or originality.

Synonyms: Unimaginative, Uninspired, Dull, Dry, Humdrum, Mundane

Antonyms: Imaginative, Inspired

Usage: Prosaic language can’t convey the experience

 

3) Swerve (Verb) – बहकना

Definition: To depart abruptly from a straight line or course

Synonyms: Break, Cut, Sheer

Antonyms: Straighten

Usage:  The government did not hesitate to swerve from the path of rectitude to finance an income support programme for farmers in an election year.

 

4) Rectitude (Noun) – इंसाफ

Definition: Morally correct behaviour or thinking; righteousness.

Synonyms: Righteousness, Goodness, Virtue

Antonyms:  Infamy, Dishonesty

Usage: Mattie is a model of rectitude

 

5) Orchestrate (Verb) – व्यवस्थित करना

Definition: Plan or coordinate the elements of (a situation) to produce a desired effect, especially surreptitiously.

Synonyms: Organize, Arrange, Plan

Usage: Employment does not usually figure in the public discourse orchestrated by political parties, either at the Centre or in the States.

 

6) Alacrity (Noun) — तत्परता

Definition: Brisk and cheerful readiness.

Synonyms: Eagerness, Willingness, Readiness

Antonyms: Apathy

Usage: The consequent loss of long-run output for the economy, is the basis of the argument that public policy must respond with alacrity to growing unemployment.

 

7) Impervious (Adjective) — अप्रवेश्य

Definition: Not allowing fluid to pass through.

Synonyms: Impermeable, Impenetrable, Impregnable

Antonyms: Permeable

Usage: The economic, as opposed to the political, message is that the recent history of unemployment has been impervious to the political formation governing India.

 

8) Incongruous (Adjective)  बेमेल

Definition: Not in harmony or keeping with the surroundings or other aspects of something.

Synonyms: Inappropriate, Unsuitable, Unsuited.

Antonyms: Appropriate, Harmonious

Usage: The duffel coat looked incongruous with the black dress she wore underneath.

 

9) Testify (Verb) – प्रमाणित करना

Definition: Serve as evidence or proof that something exists or is the case.

Synonyms: Confirm, Evidence, Prove, Corroborate, Substantiate

Antonyms: Belie

Usage: The bleak lines testify to inner torment

 

10) Conducive (Adjective) – अनुकूल

Definition: Making a certain situation or outcome likely or possible.

Synonyms: Good for, Helpful to, Instrumental in

Antonyms: Unfavourable

Usage: In a democracy, it is left to elected representatives whether to pursue macroeconomic policies conducive to the generation of employment.
