Home Minister has launched ‘Ayushmaan CAPF’ health card to provide health care services to all CAPF personnel

  • Home Minister Amit Shah has launched the ‘Ayushmaan CAPF’ Scheme health cards at the national level in New Delhi.
  • The home minister has launched the scheme by handing over the Ayushmaan card to personnel.
  • He also handed over ‘Ayushmaan CAPF’ Scheme health cards to the Director General, National Security Guard, NSG for distribution to NSG personnel.
  • The CAPFs should take care of security of the country without any worries and Narendra Modi Government will take care of their families, and the scheme has been designed to cover all serving personnel and their dependents of the seven Central Armed Police Forces.
  • The health card distribution will be undertaken in all CAPFs and the number of cards distributed will be displayed on the website of Home Ministry on a daily basis.
  • The home minister had launched ‘Ayushmaan CAPF’ Scheme on pilot basis in the State of Assam on 23rd of January this year to provide health care services to all Central Armed Police Force (CAPFs) personnel and their dependents.
  • The scheme is a joint initiative of the Home Ministry, Health Ministry and National Health Authority (NHA).

DAC has approved proposals worth 7,965 crore rupees for Armed Forces modernisation

  • Defence Acquisition Council, headed by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has approved proposals worth 7,965 crore rupees for Armed Forces modernisation under Make in India. 
  • Approval has been given for procurement of twelve Light Utility Helicopters from HAL and Lynx U2 Fire Control System from BEL to enhance detection tracking and engagement capabilities of Naval warships.
  • Approval has also been given for Mid-Life Upgradation of Dornier Aircraft from HAL to increase Naval capacity of coastal surveillance.
  • All of these proposals are under Make in India with a focus on design, development and manufacturing in India.
  • As a further impetus to Aatmanirbhar Bharat, a global procurement case of Naval guns has been foreclosed with these added to the upgraded Super Rapid Gun Mount (SRGM) being manufactured by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited.

Ministry of Rural Development has signed an MoU with Flipkart to help empower local businesses and SHGs

  • The Ministry of Rural Development has signed an MoU with Flipkart to help empower local businesses and self-help groups (SHGs) especially those that are led by women by bringing them into the e-commerce fold.
  • The partnership is aligned with Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihood Mission- DAY-NRLM’s goal of strengthening the capabilities of rural communities for self-employment and entrepreneurship.
  • The government is identifying and collaborating with all possible partners who can contribute to this cause and partnership between DAY NRLM and Flipkart will help in the process.
  • Giriraj Shri Singh, MoU will enable rural women to sell their products to more than 10 crore Flipkart’s customers. Minister of State for Rural Development Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti was also present on the occasion.

IRCTC and Truecaller join hands to reduce fraud activities

  • The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has joined hands with Truecaller to provide passengers with greater trust in communication.
  • This means that the integrated National Railways Helpline 139 is now verified by Truecaller Business Identity solutions
  • People now will be able to see a green verified business badge logo while making calls to the 139 Helpline.
  • Additionally, the verified SMS message header, Indian Railways brand name, and their profile photo on Truecaller will also ensure that the customers are communicating to IRCTC only — offering a safer customer experience and reducing the chances of frauds.
  • Under the new digital India, IRCTC has doubled down on their efforts to offer better services with dedicated apps and a secure e-booking website — as more and more people are now moving towards booking the tickets online rather than going to the reservation counters and therefore.

Govt forms empowered group to monitor rollout of PM Gati Shakti master plan

  • The Government of India has constituted a 20-member Empowered Group of Secretaries to monitor the development and implementation of the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan (NMP).
  • The Cabinet Secretary will be the Chairperson of 20-member EGoS.
  • Members include Chairman, Railway Board; Secretaries of Ministry/Department of Road, Transport & Highways; Ports, Shipping & Waterways; Civil Aviation; Petroleum & Natural Gas; Power; Telecommunications; Coal; Mines; Chemicals & Petro-Chemicals; Fertilizers; Steel; Expenditure; DPIIT; Food and Public Distribution; Agriculture & Farmers Welfare; Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying; and Tourism.
  • The head of the Logistics division in the Department of Commerce will serve as the convener of the Empowered Group in addition to being a member.
  • The Logistics division will also act as the Secretariat to the Empowered Group of Secretaries for its Terms of Reference (ToRs).

Terms of reference of EGoS :

  • Review and monitor implementation of the National Master Plan to ascertain the logistics efficiency.
  • Adopt a framework and norms for undertaking any amendments to the National Master Plan.
  • Coordinate any changes to the projects already included in the National Master Plan.
  • Set out a procedure and a definitive timeframe for synchronisation of various activities for construction of roads, railways, etc. along with all utility services
  • Align various development initiatives on a common integrated portal that serves the needs of all stakeholders.

Indian Navy receives first P15B stealth guided-missile destroyer – ‘Visakhapatnam’

  • On Oct 28, 2021, The Indian Navy received its first P15B stealth guided-missile destroyer from Mazgaon Dock Shipbuilders named “Visakhapatnam” (Y 12704).
  • The destroyer was being built at Mazgaon Dock Limited (MDL).
  • The ships are designed by the service’s in-house design organisation ‘Directorate of Naval Design’.
  • The 163-metres-long warship has a full-load displacement of 7,400 tonnes and a maximum speed of 30 knots.
  • The overall indigenous content of the project is approximately 75%.
  • Apart from myriad indigenous equipment in the ‘Float’ and ‘Move’ categories, the destroyer is also installed with major indigenous weapons
  • Medium Range Surface-to-Air Missiles (BEL, Bangalore).
  • BrahMos Surface-to-Surface Missiles (BrahMos Aerospace, New Delhi).
  • Indigenous Torpedo Tube Launchers (Larsen & Toubro, Mumbai).

  • On Oct 30, 2021, Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar launched the ‘Uttam Beej portal’.

Purpose :

  • It will benefit the farmers of Haryana by providing quality seeds with transparency.
  • The portal will provide transparency in the seed production programme arranged by both the Government and private seed producing agencies and ensure the quality of certified seeds.
  • The seed portal has been linked with Meri Fasal Mera Byora Portal and Family Identity Card ID.
  • Through this portal farmers will get good high quality seeds, which can improve their manufacturing and revenue.

Note :

  • In Haryana, about 30-35 lakh quintals of certified seed of wheat and other crops are prepared.

  • Bhasha Sangam is an initiative of the Ministry of Education under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, to teach basic sentences of everyday usage in 22 Indian languages.

Aim :

  • To acquire basic conversational skills in an Indian language other than their mother tongue.

About Bhasha Sangam Initiative for schools :

  • It is developed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT).
  • 100 sentences in 22 scheduled languages are presented in such a way that children in school will be able to read in the Indian language, in Devanagari script, in roman script and translations into Hindi and English.
  • Through this, Bhasha Sangam learners in school will be able to get acquainted with all the languages-their scripts, pronunciation.
  • It is available on DIKSHA, ePathshala and 22 booklets.

  • This is an initiative of DoHE, in collaboration with MyGov & the App has been developed by a start up Multibhashi,

IREDA launches ‘Whistle Blower’ portal                            

  • On Nov 02, 2021, Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd. (IREDA), a PSU under the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) launched a ‘Whistle-blower Portal’.
  • The portal was launched by Shri Pradip Kumar Das, Chairman & Managing Director (CMD), IREDA as a part of ‘Vigilance Awareness Week 2021’.
  • The Whistle-blower Portal has been developed by the IT Team of the company.
  • Through this portal, IREDA employees can raise concerns related to fraud, corruption and abuse of power, among others.
  • The whistle-blower portal is part of IREDA’s ‘zero tolerance’ towards corruption.

  • According to the EdelGive Hurun India Philanthropy List 2021, Wipro Founder Azim Hashim Premji has been listed as the most generous philanthropist.
  • The 76-year-old founder donated a total of Rs 9,713 crore in the fiscal year(FY) 2020-21 which is around a total of Rs 27 crore rupees per day.
  • HCL’s Shiv Nadar retained the second spot with an annual donation of Rs 1,263 crore in FY21.
  • Reliance Industries Limited Chairman Mukesh Ambani occupied the third spot on the philanthropy list with an annual donation of Rs 577 crore.

  • The Ministry of Sports has upgraded three existing sports facilities across the country as the Khelo India Sports Centres of Excellence (KISCE).

The three new centres namely :

  2. Chhatrasal Stadium, Delhi
  3. Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai
  • The total number of KISCEs now stands at 27, which is spread across 26 States and Union Territories.
  • The Khelo India State Centres of Excellence aim to provide athletes with world-class specialised training.
  • The centres will also have High-performance Managers to ensure the quality of sports science input and performance management.
