Prime Minister Narendra Modi has laid the foundation stone of Major Dhyan Chand Sports University at Salawa and Kaili villages of Sardhana town in Meerut at an estimated cost of about 700 Crore rupees. India’s largest bank said the requisite approvals required for the acquisition have been received from the Reserve Bank of India (in July 2021) and IFSC Authority (in July 2021). The Clearing Corporation may call up the residual commitment from SBI in accordance with the transaction documents and applicable law.

Senior diplomat Vikram Misri has been appointed as deputy national security adviser in the national Security Council secretariat. The appointment of Misri, a 1989-batch Indian ForeignService (IFS) officer, came after he served as the Indian ambassador to China for nearly three years. Baldev Prakash has over 30 years of experience in banking in various roles at small and large size branches at SBI. He had joined SBI as a probationary officer in 1991 and he is currently the Chief General Manager (Digital and Transaction Banking Marketing Department) at SBI, Mumbai.

The Ministry of External affairs announced that senior diplomat Anupam Ray has been appointed as India’s next permanent representative to the UN Conference on Disarmament in Geneva, Switzerland. Anupam Ray will succeed Pankaj Sharma. Ray, a 1994-batch Indian Foreign Service officer, is currently serving as a joint secretary in the MEA’s headquarters in Delhi. The Conference on Disarmament (CD) is a multilateral disarmament forum established by the international community to negotiate arms control and disarmament agreements based at the Palais des Nations in Geneva.
