Financial services company Bajaj Finserv has received the final registration from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to start its mutual fund (MF) business operations under Bajaj Finserv Mutual Fund.

Bajaj Finserv Mutual Fund, with Bajaj Finserv Asset Management Limited (BFAML) as the Investment Manager, will soon offer a range of MF products including equity, debt, and hybrid funds, both in the active and passive segments, to investors.

BFAML will create a tech-driven, multi-channel approach to serve investors across the country to build a future-ready asset management company.

The Indian mutual fund industry has assets worth Rs 39.62 lakh crore and has 42 asset management companies working in the sector as on January 31, 2023.

Axis Bank, India’s third largest private sector bank, has collaborated with ITC Limited to offer the Bank’s lending products and services to farmers who are a part of ITC’s agriculture ecosystem.

About the Partnership :

The partnership will enable Axis Bank to cater to the financial requirements of unserved and under-served farmers based in remote regions by offering them a range of assets and liability products such as farmer loans and gold loans, among others.

Axis Bank will leverage ITCMAARS (Meta Market for Advanced Agricultural Rural Services), a full-stack agri-tech application to reach out to the farmers and address their financial requirements.

A Mega Currency Chest has been opened by Bandhan Bank in Kolkata, West Bengal.

This is the Bank’s third mega currency chest, the other two being in Patna and Guwahati.

This chest would facilitate fresh currency circulation and help the bank serve its clientele.

Bandhan Bank currently has over 1 crore customers in West Bengal.

In the Kolkata region, the bank has 182 bank branches.

The government has stated that the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002 will apply to trade in cryptocurrency or virtual assets.

The Finance Ministry has stated in the notification that the exchange between one or more forms of virtual digital assets and the transfer of virtual digital assets will be covered under the money laundering act.

Apart from this, participating in financial services related to the safekeeping of virtual digital assets and sale of virtual digital assets will also come under the money laundering law.

Crypto exchanges and intermediaries dealing in Virtual Digital Assets (VDAs) will now have to conduct KYC for their customers and users of the platform.

In addition, exchanges will have to report suspicious activity to the Financial Intelligence Unit of India.

The notification states that entities operating in VDAs will be considered “reporting entities” under the PMLA.

It includes Banks, financial institutions, entities engaged in the real estate and jewellery sectors as well as casinos are now ‘reporting entities’.

Under this law, every reporting entity is required to maintain records of all transactions.

It includes the record of all cash transactions of more than Rs 10 lakh for at least five years.

It was enacted in 2003 but it came into force on 1 July 2005.

It was enacted to prevent and control money laundering in India.

The act was amended in 2005, 2009 and 2012.

A group of 16 countries led by Vanuatu – an island country in the South Pacific Ocean, launched an effort to fight the problem of climate change at the United Nations (UN).

The group seeks an advisory opinion from the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on the issue of climate change.

About ICJ :

The ICJ, also known as the World Court, is the principal judicial organ of the UN.

It was established in June 1945 by the Charter of the United Nations and began work in April 1946.

The seat of the Court is at the Peace Palace in The Hague (Netherlands).

Aligned with the government’s commitment to empower Indian farmers and boost the agricultural sector, the ‘Flipkart Samarth Krishi’ program seeks to provide market access and build the capacity of farmers.

Apple partner Foxconn is stepping up its India business plans and investments significantly, in a move that is being seen as a shift from China just like its key customer.

In the latest development, Taiwanese electronics contract manufacturer Fo xconn has decided to invest an estimated $700 million to set up a new plant in Karnataka.

The proposed plant, to be located near the Bengaluru airport, is expected to manufacture and assemble devices including the iPhone.

Experts described Foxconn’s bet on India as part of a strategy to reduce its over-dependence on China, where 75 per cent of its production is located.

Just a day ago, Foxconn had signed an agreement with the Telangana government to set up a manufacturing facility with a potential to create 100,000 jobs.

Known as the IRCTC HDFC Bank Credit Card, the co-branded card is in a single variant and is available on NPCI’s Rupay network.

This is the third tie-up of IRCTC after the State Bank of India and Bank of Baroda.

The card will provide exclusive benefits and maximum savings on bookings of train tickets booked through the IRCTC’s ticketing website and through IRCTC Rail Connect app.

68 percent of the undernutrition women and adolescent girls are living in the South Asia and sub-Saharan Africa.

In a major boost to the Government’s efforts to achieve ‘Atma Nirbharta’ in defence, the Union Cabinet had approved the procurement of 70 HTT-40 trainer aircraft from HAL at a cost of over Rs 6,800 crore.

About HTT-40 Trainer Aircraft :

HTT-40 Trainer Aircraft will meet the shortage of basic trainer aircraft of the Indian Air Force for training of newly-inducted pilots.

The aircraft will be supplied over a period of 6 years.

The Indian Railways is collaborating with Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) under the Real Time Train Information System (RTIS) project.

Aim:

To enable real-time tracking of train movements with the assistance of satellite imagery.

About RTIS project :

RTIS devices that use satellite imagery are being installed on the trains to automatically acquire its “movement timing at the stations, including that of arrival and departure or run-through”.

These timings get automatically plotted on the control chart of those trains in the Control Office Application (COA) system.

The project is executed by the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS).

ISRO has launched GSAT satellites that have GAGAN payloads for tracking the movement of trains.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced that the 140th IOC Session would be held in Mumbai from October 15 to 17.

According to a press release, an IOC Executive Board meeting will be held on October 12 and 13, prior to the IOC Session, while the Opening Ceremony of the IOC Session is scheduled for October 14.

The decision to hold the 140th IOC Session in India was taken by its members during the 139th meeting in Beijing in February.

India won the bid to host the event after 75 members voted for it and one against it.
