The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is actively working on establishing a dedicated cloud facility for the financial sector in India. Over time, the cloud facility will be transitioned to a separate entity, with ownership vested in financial sector participants. This move aims to promote independence and collaboration within the sector. The implementation of the cloud facility is planned to occur in a phased and calibrated fashion over the medium term, ensuring a systematic and controlled deployment. At present, the standing facilities of the Reserve Bank under the LAF (liquidity adjustment facility) – the SDF and the MSF – can be availed from 17:30 hours to 23:59 hours on all days including weekends and holidays.
