Universal Children’s Day is celebrated annually on 20th November to promote and improve child welfare. It aims to create awareness among children worldwide and bring togetherness. It was established in 1954.

It was on this day in 1959 that the UN General Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child. And in 1989 on the same day, the UN General Assembly also adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child. On social media events related to child rights can be shared using hashtag #worldchildrensday

The first World Philosophy Day was celebrated in the year 2002. In 2005,  the UNESCO General Conference proclaimed that the World Philosophy Day would be celebrated every third Thursday of November.

The Union Cabinet has approved setting up of the National Institute for Sowa-Rigpa in Leh, Ladakh as an autonomous organization under the Ministry of AYUSH at an estimated cost of Rs 47.25 crore. The objective is to bring a valid and useful synergy between Traditional Wisdom of Sowa-Rigpa and modern science. It will help to promote interdisciplinary research & education of Sowa-Rigpa.

It is a traditional Tibetan system of medicine practised in the Himalayan belt of India. It is popular in Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, West Bengal’s Darjeeling, Himachal Pradesh and the Union Territory of Ladakh.

Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has installed the first of its kind high-end reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) machines in India for quick detection of diseases like dengue, tuberculosis and swine flu.

These machines are to serve as a ‘third umpire’ in situations when medical reports and blood tests reveal contradictory results and the tests will be conducted free of cost.

Four machines have been installed in the initial stages of the project at Hatibagan in North Kolkata, Behala, Jadavpur and at Haji Mohammad Mohsin Square in central part of the city.

Visakhapatnam Police has launched a first of its kind cybersecurity interactive robotic agent robot, CYBIRA (cybersecurity interactive robotic agent). It will be  stationed at Maharanipeta Police Station and can automatically take complaints in an effective manner.

Robo Coupler Private Limited has designed a robot ‘CYBIRA’ for registering and disposing of complaints at the police station in an effective manner. It will deliver an acknowledgement to the respective complainant and investigating officer to resolve the issue within 24 hours.

According to a new report by Knight Frank , New Delhi has become the 9th fastest growing prime residential market in the world with average luxury home prices in areas such as Greater Kailash, Vasant Vihar, Anand Niketan, Defence Colony and Green Park rising by 4.4 percent year-on-year in the third quarter of 2019. Delhi’s ranking has moved up by one place to 9th spot, Mumbai is at 28th position, up two places from 30th rank.

Globally, Moscow leads the index this quarter with prime home prices rising by 11.1 percent over the 12 months to September 2019, followed by Frankfurt (10.3 percent) and Taipei (8.9 percent).

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) to market and operate the Golden Chariot train. IRCTC is planning to revamp the train’s itinerary and add flavours that Karnataka has to offer.

The Golden Chariot train which commenced operations in 2008 is a Government of Karnataka initiative in a joint venture with the Ministry of Railways.

Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) has delivered its 102nd warship, ICGS Amrit Kaur, to the Indian Coast Guard. It is the third in the series-of-five Fast Patrol Vessel (FPV) that GRSE under the Ministry of Defence is building.

GRSE delivered its 101st Warship ICGS Annie Besant, second in the series to the Indian Coast Guard, on November 05, 2019.

ICGS ‘Amrit Kaur’ is a 50-metre-long and 7.5-metre-wide medium-range surface vessel, with displacement of around308 tonne. It is capable of performing rescue, patrolling,anti-smuggling and anti-poaching operations in the maritime zones of the country.
