• In India, tobacco products and alcohol cannot be advertised openly under laws like the Cigarette and Other Tobacco Products Act, 2003, which bans all kinds of direct and indirect advertisements of tobacco products.
• Couples who intend to take the surrogacy route to become parents will have to buy general health insurance coverage in favor of a surrogate mother for 36 months, according to the Surrogacy (Regulation) Rules issued recently.
• According to the rules notified by the Union health ministry on June 21, the number of attempts of any surrogacy procedure on the surrogate mother should not be more than three times.
• The surrogate mother may be allowed for abortion during the process of surrogacy by the Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act, 1971. The Surrogacy (Regulation) Act, 2021 came into force on January 25 this year.
• In this regard, the intending couple/woman also has to give an affidavit in court as a guarantee of compensation for medical expenses, health issues, and specified loss, incurred on such surrogate mother during the process of surrogacy

• The project NIPUN is an initiative of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) under its flagship scheme of the DeendayalAntyodayaYojana-National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM) to train over 1 lakh construction workers, through fresh skilling and upskilling programs and provides them with work opportunities in foreign countries also.
• The project implementation is divided into three parts – training through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) at construction sites, training through Fresh Skilling by Plumbing and Infrastructure SSC, and International Placement through industries, builders, and contractors.
• The courses are aligned with National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) and will be imparted at accredited and affiliated training centers. Under NIPUN, it is also envisaged that NSDC will place approximately 12,000 people in foreign countries such as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, UAE, and other GCC countries.
• It will provide trainees with ‘KaushalBima’, three-year accidental insurance with coverage of Rs 2 lakhs, digital skills such as cashless transactions and the BHIM app, orientation about entrepreneurship, and EPF and BOCW facilities.
