Reserve Bank of India (RBI) indicates that household savings in India have reached their lowest levels in decades. In Financial Year 2023 (FY23), household savings accounted for 5.1% of the gross domestic product (GDP). This is a significant drop from the 7.2% recorded in FY22.The annual financial liabilities of households increased to 5.8% of GDP in FY23, compared to 3.8% in FY22.Net assets of households in India have witnessed a decline.
