- Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri launched Swachh Survekshan 2020 League in New Delhi.
- The league will be a quarterly cleanliness assessment of cities and towns in India and will be integrated with Swachh Survekshan 2020, the 5th edition of the annual cleanliness survey of urban India to be conducted between January – February 2020.
- The objective of the Swachh Survekshan survey, which is conducted by an independent third party, is to encourage large scale citizen participation, ensure sustainability of initiatives taken towards garbage free and open defecation free cities and create awareness amongst all sections of society about the importance of working together towards making towns and cities a better place to live in.

- India’s first Dinosaur Museum cum Park was inaugurated in Gujarat’s Mahisagar district and is set to give visitors the true Jurassic Park feel.
- The museum, which was inaugurated by Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani at Raiyoli near Balasinor, will exhibit remains of various dinosaurs and fossil records.
- It has been claimed that it was the country’s first such museum and the world’s third park.
- Raiyoli is known to be the third largest dinosaur fossil site in the world, and also the second largest dinosaur hatchery in the world, where thousands of eggs had been found.
- This dinosaur museum was equipped with modern technology like 3D projection, virtual reality presentations, interactive kiosks and life-size dinosaur replicas.

- Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy scrapped the previous Naidu government’s ‘Annadata Sukhibhava’ scheme to replace it with the Rs 13,000 crore ‘Rythu Bharosa’ scheme to give direct benefits to farmers.
- Jagan Reddy has given the nod to implement the ‘Rythu Bharosa’ scheme, one of the key promises in the YSR Congress manifesto. The project has been estimated at Rs 13, 125 crore. The scheme will come into force on October 15 itself although it was due to be implemented from May next year.
- It will offer investment support of Rs. 12,500 per annum per farmer. It will also free crop insurance and interest-free loans to farmers. In total Rs 50,000 will be given to a farmer in four installments of Rs 12,500. Eligibility: Farmers with land area less than 5 acres.
- It must be noted that the financial assistance of Rs. 15,000 per annum per farmer was provided under the Annadaata Sukhibhava Scheme.
