8)On December 31, 2016, Prime Minister Narendra Modi (a)/ proudly announced that (b)/ pregnant women nationwide would (c)/ soon will get maternity benefits of ₹6,000. (d)
9)He projected this as a “new scheme” (sic), without any (a)/ reference to the NFSA, perhaps hope (b)/ that the victims of demonetisation (c)/ would appreciate the gesture. (d)
10)With Prime Minister finally endorsing maternity entitlements, (a)/ things started moving after that, (b)/ but not much: the allocation of ₹2,700 crore(c)/ in the 2017-18 Union Budget is barely enough to cover a fourth of all births,(d)/ even with the proposed 60:40 ratio for Centre:State funding.
