Our Finance Ministry Puts IBPS Clerk Exam on Hold!!! The Finance Ministry on Tuesday directed the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) to put on hold an examination for IBPS Clerk 2021 in public sector banks (PSBs) till a final decision is taken on conducting tests in regional languages. The Finance Ministry said in their statement that, In order to look into the demand for holding examinations for clerical cadre in PSBs in local/regional languages, a special committee has been set up by the ministry to focus on the matter in its totality. The special committee will give its recommendations within 15 days. Until the recommendations of the committee are made available, the ongoing process of holding the examination is initiated by IBPS.
Recently, IBPS has released the notification of IBPS Clerk 2021 on its official site. The Apply Online link has been activated on its official site from 12th July 2021. In that advertisement, the board has notified that the examination will be conducted for the clerical cadre of PSBs only in two languages–English and Hindi. The Finance Minister in July 2019 had assured in the Parliament that the recruitment examination for employment in the Regional rural banks (RRBs) would be conducted in regional languages apart from English and Hindi. In 2019, the government directed IBPS to conduct the recruitment of Office Assistant and Officer Scale I in RRBs in 13 regional languages including Konkani and Kannada, besides Hindi and English.
So there has been a demand raised especially from the Southern states to include other recognized regional languages for conducting bank clerical cadre. Aspirants who are preparing for the IBPS Clerk need not panic as the exam is not canceled at all, it is just put on hold till the final decision has been taken by Finance Ministry & IBPS on the exam languages. So candidates focus on their exam preparation process and ready for the upcoming examinations.
