- A Grammy Award is originally called Gramophone Award or Grammy which is an award presented by The Recording Academy to recognize achievement in the music industry mainly English-language. The first Grammy Awards ceremony was held on May 4, 1959 to honor and respect the musical accomplishments by performers for the year 1958.
About 60th Grammy Award-2018:
- The 60th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony was held on January 28, 2018. The CBS network broadcast the show live from Madison Square Garden in New York City.
- It was the first time since 2003 that the ceremony was held outside Los Angeles .
- James Corden returned as host.
- The ceremony recognizes the best recordings, compositions and artists of the eligibility year which ran from October 1, 2016 to September 30, 2017. The nominations were announced on November 28, 2017.
- The ceremony kicked off with a searing performance by Lamar interspersed with commentary from comedian Dave Chappelle, who noted, “the only thing more frightening than watching a black man be honest in America is being an honest black man in America.”
- The medley of Lamar’s work continued with dancers in camouflage military uniforms, cameos by Bono and The Edge, dance-infused taiko drumming, and dancers in red hoodies dropping one by one to the sound of gunshots.
