Muthuvel Karunanidhi is one of the symbols of Dravidian Politics popularly called as “Kalaignar”. Well, known former Chief Minister of Tamilnadu born on June 3, 1924. Dr. M.Kalaignar is a mentor and long-standing leader of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. Kalaignar was a familiar screenwriter of Tamil cinema in an earlier age. Dr.M.Karunanidhi contributed more plays, novels to the Tamil literary. Inspired by the speech of Mr. Alagiriswamy, he entered into youth politics at his tender age of 14.
At the age of 33, in 1957 he elected and entered into the Tamil Nadu assembly. In 1967 after the sudden death of Annadurai he took over the position of Chief Minister. He elected and served five terms as a Chief Minister of Tamilnadu. On political history he made a milestone, he is the first leader has worked as president of DMK political Party around 50 years.
Political Innings of Dr.M. Karunanidhi:
- 1957: Elected to Tamilnadu Assembly from Kulithalai.
- 1969: Elected as a Party leader and become CM of Tamilnadu.
- 1969 – 2011: Elected five terms as a Cheif Minister.
Special Projects introduced at the time of Kalaignar ruling period. Samacheer Kalvi is One of his best scheme that proposed for the school children to get the Uniform System of School Education across Tamilnadu. Samacheer Kalvi established in 2009 by Dr.kalaignar. He introduced free education to scheduled castes and Most Backward classes students of Tamilnadu. Free bus pass for school students, free tuition for the first Graduate engineer in the family and more useful scheme are introduced for education at the time of Kalaignar ruling period.
A person who called as a “Political Chanakya” is no more now. The demise of most loveable leader announced by the government on August 07 2018. It is a hard feeling for all DMK supporters and the People of Tamilnadu. The great era of Mr.Karunanidhi become to end. He left the world at the age of 94. He left incredible memories with us pay tribute to the extraordinary leader.
