The major difference in the pattern of IBPS PO and IBPS Clerk is the total number of questions and the level of the paper. There is no major change in the syllabus of both exams. Preliminary examination syllabus topics in Quantitative aptitude such as Approximation, Simplification, and Quadratic equations might be asked in Clerical level main exams. Similarly, in Reasoning part, the topics like Syllogism and Inequality might be asked in Clerical level main exams.
IBPS PO Mains has 155 questions which carry 200 marks and IBPS Clerk Mains has 190 questions which carry 200 marks.

In PO Level examination the Quantitative section is mainly focused on Data Analysis and Interpretation whereas in the Clerical level exam the questions were based on Numerical Ability, DI and Application sums.

Till SBI PO mains 2017, the Data Interpretation questions were a step calculative than prelims. In SBI PO they have introduced Application based Data interpretation. In SBI Clerk Mains 2018 they have introduced application based missing caselet. In IBPS PO Mains 2018 Data sufficiency based DI were asked and missing caselets were asked.

Quantity I and Quantity II questions were replaced for Quadratic questions starting from RBI Grade-B 2016. In IBPS PO Mains 2018 three Quantities were asked where the options were in coded form.

In IBPS PO Mains Exam 2018, mostly a set of puzzles and seating arrangements consists of only 3-4 questions. In seating arrangements, the questions were based on different geometrical forms-Triangular, Rectangular, Circle and Square which is time-consuming.
The Linear based seating arrangements were asked with a distance which is an integral multiple of a number. Certain numbers of people sitting in a row facing same or different directions were asked.

The Direction sense and Blood relation questions were transformed into coded from normal data based from 2016. In IBPS PO Mains 2018, the Blood relation questions were based on a puzzle and the questions were asked in the coded form. These questions were time-consuming and tricky.
In IBPS PO Mains 2018, the Direction Sense questions were based on the merged form of a rectangular field which intersects each other. The questions were time-consuming and tricky.

Currently, the questions asked in Current affairs related banking awareness were covered from last 6-8 months. So, it is must cover at least 6 months current affairs with prior to the examination. Minimum 20-25 questions were asked from banking related current affairs. It is also important to cover static related banking and current affairs.
