- State-run oil refiner Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) has acquired a 4.93 per cent equity share in Indian Gas Exchange Limited – the country’s first automated national level gas exchange.
- The State Bank of India (SBI), India’s largest public sector bank, has acquired a minority stake in JSW Cement Ltd by investing Rs 100 crore via compulsorily convertible preference shares (CCPS).
- Wipro Limited has signed an agreement to acquire Austin, Texas headquartered Edgile, a transformational cybersecurity consulting provider that focuses on risk and compliance, information and cloud security, and digital identity.
- HSBC Asset Management, an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of HSBC Holdings plc, has acquired L&T Investment Management (LTIM) for $425 million (about ₹3,187 crore) from L&T Finance Holdings.

- The first set of indigenously developed next-generation Armoured Engineer Reconnaissance Vehicle (AERV) was inducted into the Corps of Engineers of the Indian Army at a function attended by Chief of Army Staff General MM Naravane at Pune.
- The Indian Air Force (IAF) has started deploying its S-400 air defence missile system in the Punjab sector in a major boost to India’s capability to tackle aerial threats from both China and Pakistan.
- Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh launched indigenous Multi-terrain Artillery Gun (MArG) 155 – BR in the presence of Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane.
- The security of the Offshore Development Area (ODA) in Krishna Godavari Basin on the East Coast of India was reviewed during exercise “Prasthan” conducted from 21 December to 22 December 21.
- On Dec 23, 2021, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully tested indigenously developed High-speed Expendable Aerial Target (HEAT) Abhyas from Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur off the coast, Odisha.
- Indian Navy Ship (INS) Khukri, the first of the indigenously-built missile corvettes, has been decommissioned after 32 years of service at Visakhapatnam.
- Sail Training Ship INS Sudarshini, was deployed to the Gulf as part of the Indian Navy’s endeavor to enhance maritime cooperation with the friendly navies in the region.
- The Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) selected Paras Defence and Space Technologies for handing over the technology of border surveillance systems as developed by Instruments Research & Development Establishment and DRDO.
- Defense minister Rajnath Singh laid the foundation stone of the Defense Technology and Test Center and BrahMos manufacturing center that will be established by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) in Lucknow.

- In the latest report published by the World Anti-Doping Agency, India ranked third in the list 152 (17% of the world total) Anti-doping Rule Violations (ADRVs) were reported in India in 2019, while Russia recorded 167 violators, having the top violators followed by Italy with 157
- According to the Hurun Global Unicorn Index 2021, India has a total of 54 unicorns, ranking it third (up from 33 unicorns in 2020) in the world & the USA led with 487 unicorns, up 254, followed by China on 301, up 74, together accounting for 74% of the world’s unicorns.
- Telangana was the first in the implementation of the Syama Prasad Mookerjee Rurban Mission (SPMRM), Tamil Nadu and Gujarat secured the second and third positions respectively.
- NITI Aayog has released the fourth edition of the State Health Index for 2019–20 & the report, titled “Healthy States, Progressive India”, ranks states and Union Territories on their year-on-year incremental performance in health outcomes as well as their overall status and in overall ranking based on the composite index score in 2019–20, the top-ranking states were Kerala (1) and Tamil Nadu (2) among the ‘Larger States’, & while Uttar Pradesh (19th) was the worst.
- The Center for Economics and Business Research (CEBR) from the United Kingdom has predicted that the Indian economy will regain sixth position from France in 2022 and become the third-largest economy in 2031.

- The Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS) has been chosen to join a research project backed by the Space Application Centre of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) under a NASA-ISRO collaborative programme.
- Pakistan has “successfully” test-fired a version of its indigenously developed Babur cruise missile 1B with enhanced range & the cruise missile has a range of more than 900 kilometers.
- The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully test fired the indigenously developed surface-to-surface missile ‘Pralay’, from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha.
- Japan launched the Inmarsat-6 F1 satellite launched atop a Mitsubishi Heavy Industries H-2A rocket from Japan’s Tanegashima Space Center.
- On Dec 26, 2021, the China National Space Administration (CNSA) informed China launched a new satellite with a camera that can take pictures of the ground with a resolution of five meters.
- World’s largest and most powerful space telescope, James Webb Space Telescope, has been launched successfully into orbit in an Ariane rocket from the European Space Agency’s base in French Guiana.
- Russia has launched its third and final demonstration of its new heavy-class flight of the Angara A5 rocket.
- Russia has launched a new nuclear powered icebreaker ‘Sibir’ that will contribute to the rapidly growing fleet of lethal icebreakers to keep the Northern Sea Route open for year-round shipping through the Arctic enabling wider presence of India in the region.
