• During the UN 4th International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS) in Antigua and Barbuda, the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI), headquartered in New Delhi, announced a Call for Proposals aimed at funding projects to enhance infrastructure resilience in SIDS
• India’s assumption of the chairmanship for the regional grouping Colombo Process marks the first time since its inception in 2003.
• The Government of India has launched BIMReN (BIMSTEC-India Marine Research Network), a joint initiative of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the Bay of Bengal Programme-Inter Governmental Organization (BOBP-IGO).
• The government has decided to raise the gratuity limit for central government employees by 25%, effective January 1, 2024.

• The National Pension System’s (NPS) assets under management (AUM) have touched ₹12.16 lakh crore as of May 25, the latest data from the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA)
• Following the Congress’ appeal to electors in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore to select the ‘None of the Above’ option, it has so far got more than 1.7 lakh votes in the Lok Sabha seat, breaking the previous NOTA record of Gopalganj in Bihar.
• Ahead of the formation of the new Government, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Custom (CBIC) released draft of new Bill to amend the Central Excise Act. The proposed Bill, once enacted, will replace 8 decades’ Act – the Central Excise Act.

• PwC will become the largest customer and the first reseller of OpenAI’s enterprise product as businesses accelerate their adoption of generative artificial intelligence
• French tech firm Dassault Systemes announced that Dhaksha Unmanned Systems Pvt Ltd, a Chennai-based drone manufacturer, has adopted its Modsim modeling and simulation tools on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to develop and launch next-generation drones at lower costs
• India’s real GDP grew by 7.8% in the fourth quarter (January-March) of FY 2023-24, propelling the full-year growth to an impressive 8.2%.
• India’s fiscal deficit stood at Rs 16.54 lakh crore in FY24, below the budgetary target of Rs 17.86 lakh crore, achieving 95.3% of the target.
• State-owned REC Ltd has approved an increase in its foreign currency borrowing limit to $24 billion from $20 billion
• India received the highest foreign direct investment (FDI) from Singapore in 2023-24, even as overall overseas capital inflows into the country contracted by approximately 3.5% due to global economic uncertainties
• Russia has solidified its position as the leading oil supplier to India for the fiscal year 2023/24, marking the second consecutive year of dominance and reshaping market dynamics by reducing the market share of Middle Eastern and OPEC producers to historic lows
• Reliance Industries Limited (RIL)is set to establish a global economic hub in Navi Mumbai, having secured sub-leases on approximately 3,750 Acres of land for an estimated INR 13,400 Crore.

• Bengaluru-based fintech firm PhonePe has launched secured loans in partnership with various non-banking finance companies (NBFCs).
• The Finance Ministry has instructed the State Bank of India (SBI) to establish a six-member committee to address challenges associated with the co-lending business model.
• In a first, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) cancelled the auction of 10-year green bonds as traders refused to pay greenium.
• The Unified Payments Interface (UPI) network operated by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has set a new record by processing 14.04 billion transactions in May 2024 compared to 13.3 billion in April 2024.
• The banking sector observed a notable increase in credit growth during the first month of fiscal 2024, primarily driven by advancements in the agriculture sector, as per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
• Canara Bank has approved the initiation of the process to dilute its 14.50% stake in its subsidiary, Canara HSBC Life Insurance Company Limited., through an initial public offering (IPO).
• The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has transferred around 100 tonnes or 1 lakh kilograms of gold from the United Kingdom to its vaults in India.
• The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) released the final framework for recognising self-regulatory organisations (SROs) in the financial technology sector (SRO-FT), encouraging entities to have a representative membership from the fintech sector.
• In the financial year 2023-24 (FY24), there were 36,075 reported bank frauds, marking a significant increase of nearly 166% from the 13,564 cases reported in FY23.
• The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has issued a new health insurance circular that seeks to improve services for policyholders by reducing settlement times and ensuring cashless claim processes.

• Capital Small Finance Bank (CSFB), a small finance bank, has forged a bancassurance tie-up with ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company Ltd.(ICICI Lombard), a private general insurer.
• 4 prominent European banks, which also serve critical custodian roles in local sovereign debt trade, have approached the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) seeking approval for a third-party transaction model & the European banks involved in this initiative are Credit Agricole, Societe Generale, Deutsche Bank, and BNP Paribas.
• JM Financial Asset Reconstruction Companies (JMFARC’s) capital adequacy fell below regulatory requirements following a provision of Rs 846.86 crore for expected credit loss on distressed loans in FY24.
• Lenders are planning to approach the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) with a proposal to lower provisioning for infrastructure loans.
• Bank of India (BoI) has launched a special fixed deposit plan called ‘666 Days – Fixed Deposit’, offering attractive returns on deposits for a tenure of 666 days.

• Capital markets regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has launched a mobile app, ‘Saarthi 2.0’, focused on personal finance for investors.
• The State Bank of India (SBI) became the 1st public sector bank and the 7th Indian company to cross the Rs 8 trillion market capitalisation (m-cap).
• The alternative investment fund (AIF) industry has welcomed recent suggestions by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to change the valuation norms, aiming to resolve valuation issues and relax guidelines.
• In their bid to recover money stuck with absconding wilful defaulters, 6 public sector banks (PSUs) have issued 1,071 look-out circulars (LOCs) since 2018 to prevent them from fleeing to other countries.
• The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) issued a master circular on corporate governance for insurers.
• Axis Bank, a private sector bank, and Bajaj Allianz General Insurance, a private general insurer, have entered a strategic bancassurance partnership to boost insurance penetration and financial inclusion in the country.
• The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) absorbed surplus liquidity aggregating ₹44,430 crores through two variable rate reverse repo (VRRR) auctions of three days tenor. 
• Punjab National Bank (PNB), a public sector bank, and India Infrastructure Finance Company Ltd (IIFCL), a state-owned entity, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to provide long-term financial support for viable infrastructure projects.
• Capital markets regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has set up a committee to review the ownership and economic structure of clearing corporations and suggest measures to ensure that clearing corporations function as resilient, independent, and neutral risk managers.
• Adani One,the digital platform of the Adani Group, and ICICI Bank have collaborated to introduce two new co-branded credit cards in association with Visa.

• Punjab National Bank’s (PNB) Board approved the initiation of process for divesting 10% shareholding in its associate company Canara HSBC Life Insurance through an initial public offering (IPO) route. 
• The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has approved the proposed combination involving acquisition in IRB Infrastructure Trust and MMK Toll Road Private Limited by Cintra.

• In a remarkable achievement, IIT Madras’ startup, Agnikul Cosmos, has launched the world’s first rocket with a single-piece three-dimensional (3D) printed engine.
• Earth Cloud Aerosol and Radiation Explorer (EarthCARE) satellite, a joint mission of ESA (European Space Agency) and JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency), has been successfully launched.
• Pakistan launched a multi-mission communication satellite named PAKSAT MM1 for faster internet connectivity with the help of its all-weather ally China, making it Islamabad’s second satellite to be sent into orbit within a month.
• A significant cloud computing and artificial intelligence initiative undertaken by Google in collaboration with the Israeli government, aimed at enhancing the latter’s technological capabilities, particularly amidst the ongoing Gaza conflict.
