• The Food Waste Index Report 2021, from the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and partner organisation WRAP, said that around 931 million tonnes of food waste was generated in 2019,sixty-one per cent of which came from households, 26 per cent from food service and 13 per cent from retail.
• Anil Ambani-led Reliance Power has formed a joint venture with Japan-headquartered Jera Co. Inc to develop a new gas-fired power generation project in Bangladesh.
• India has extended a grant of 17 million Nepali Rupees to Nepal to build a new school building in Rupandehi district of the country under the Nepal-Bharat Maitri Development Partnership.

• Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Andhra Pradesh to develop the MSME ecosystem in the State.
• In Kerala, amid the Covid-19 pandemic the devotees will take part in the Attukal pongala from their homes.
• In Gujarat, Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel launched ‘Gujarat Budget’ mobile application at Gandhinagar.  
• Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan laid the foundation stone of Mon Medical College covering 30 acres of land at District Hospital Mon, Nagaland.
• In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha who is also the Chancellor of Sher-i-Kashmir University of Agriculture Science and Technology Kashmir (SKUAST-Kashmir) inaugurated a 2-day long 6th Technology Exhibition cum Seed Sale Mela on the theme “Shaping the Future Farming for Better Returns” at Shalimar campus of the University in Srinagar.

• The growth in India’s real GDP during 2020-21 is estimated at -8 percent as compared to the growth rate of 4.0 per cent in 2019-20.
• The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has directed all general and health insurance companies to mandatorily offer a standard personal accident insurance policy by 1 April, 2021.
• Private lenders HDFC Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank have initiated exchanges that they have invested in Ferbine Private Limited.
• Federal Bank is set to launch credit cards in coming months and remains bullish about growth opportunities on the retail portfolio.
• Digital financial services firm Paytm said it achieved over 2 billion monthly transactions on its platform, driven by growth in offline payments and financial services.
• SBI General Insurance and Indian Overseas Bank have signed a bancassurance agreement for distribution of non-life offerings.

• As part of the Maritime India Summit 2021, Cochin Port Trust has signed three MoU’s for developing a Free Trade Warehousing Zone, Cryogenic Warehous and Aviation Fuel Terminal.
• The Visakhapatnam Port Trust (VPT)has signed MoUs worth about Rs 30,000 crore with port-led industries and government agencies ahead of the Maritime India Summit 2021, which will be held in virtual mode from March 2.
• The Dharwad-headquartered Karnataka Vikas Grameena Bank(KVGB) has signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Our Food Pvt Ltd, Visakhapatnam, for arranging cost-effective processing units to farmers through the bank loan.
• Ministry of Textiles and Ministry of Agriculture signed an MoU to amplify sericulture activities in the country in the presence of Textiles Minister Smriti Irani and Minister of State for Agriculture Parshottam Rupala. 
• Telangana Grameena Bank, Andhra Pradesh Grameena Vikas Bank becomes first RRBs in the country to adopt this tech that offers zero contact on boarding of customers, at par with commercial banks.

• Suryakirans, Sarang and Light Combat Aircraft Tejaswill participate in an air show in Colombo from March 3 to 5 as part of the 70th-anniversary celebrations of the Sri Lankan Air Force.
• The Indian Air Force (IAF)will participate in the Exercise Desert Flag-VI along with the air forces of the UAE, the US, France, Saudi Arabia, South Korea and Bahrain for the first time.
• The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully tested a flight demonstration based on Solid Fuel Ducted Ramjet (SFDR) technology from the Integrated Test Range in Odisha’s Chandipur.

• Michael Somare, Papua New Guinea’s first prime minister, who played a major role in leading the country to independence from Australia, died  in Port Moresby, the capital. He was 84.
• Bharatiya Janata Party Lok Sabha MP Nandkumar Singh Chauhan He was 69.
