• The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Hon’ble Prime Minister approves the Scheme for Viability Gap Funding (VGF) for the development of Battery Energy Storage Systems.
• The Ministry of Tourism will launch a national competition on ‘Tourism for Tomorrow’ to identify best practices and case studies aligned with five priorities of the G20 Goa roadmap.
• The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has recently recognised Mithun, a semi-domesticated bovine animal as a food animal paving the way for the promotion of its consumption and commercial rearing on the hills of Northeast.
• The Union government has released draft guidelines to curb “dark patterns” used by online platforms.
• Around 56 per cent of total new internet users will be from rural India by 2025, according to a report by TransUnion CIBIL, which said that currently, 36% of digital payment users hail from rural parts of the country.

• The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Hon’ble Prime Minister approves the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology of the Republic of India and the Ministry of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia on Cooperation in the field of sharing successful Digital Solutions implemented at Population Scale for Digital Transformation.
• The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Hon’ble Prime Minister approves the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology of the Republic of India and the Ministry of Information, Communications Technologies, Utilities and Energy of the Antigua & Barbuda on Cooperation in the field of sharing successful Digital Solutions implemented at Population Scale for Digital Transformation.
• The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Hon’ble Prime Minister approves the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of the Republic of India and the Ministry of Information and Communications of the Republic of Sierra Leone on Cooperation in the field of sharing successful Digital Solutions implemented at Population Scale for Digital Transformation.
• The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved the extension of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) for release of 75 lakh LPG connections over three years from Financial Year 2023-24 to 2025-26.

• Indonesia has introduced a ‘golden visa’ program aimed at attracting foreign individuals and corporate investors to stimulate its national economy.
• United Kingdom (UK) government has officially announced its decision to rejoin Horizon Europe, the European Union’s research funding program with a budget of €95 billion.
• Group of Twenty (G20) leaders have unanimously endorsed the “Goa Roadmap for Tourism” as a significant step toward achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
• During the G20 Summit in New Delhi, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed among the governments of India, the United States (US), Saudi Arabia, the European Union (EU), the United Arab Emirates (UAE), France, Germany, and Italy to establish the India – Middle East – Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC).

• The Assam government has established a 3 -member committee to draft a law aimed at ending polygamy within Assam.

• Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu launched the Mukhya Mantri Sporting Abilities, Rebuilding Aspirations and Livelihood Scheme (SABAL) from Nadaun in district Hamirpur, HP.

• The Jharkhand Cabinet, led by Chief Minister (CM) Hemant Soren, has approved the inclusion of the transgender community in the state’s universal pension scheme, known as “Mukhyamantri Rajya Samajik Suraksha Pension Yojana.”
• The Gujarat government has announced that Ahmedabad has become the 2nd city in India to adopt an Emission Trading Scheme (ETS) for particulate pollution with an aim to regulate industrial emissions effectively and contribute to reducing pollution levels in Gujarat.
• Odisha’s ‘Koraput Kalajeera Rice,‘ renowned for its unique aroma and nutritional value, has been officially recognized with Geographical Indications (GI) status.

• NTPC Limited, a state-owned power producer, is set to commission India’s 1st inaugural Green Hydrogen fueling station in Ladakh within the coming month.
• The Maharashtra cabinet has decided to implement a cyber-security project worth Rs 837 crore due to increasing cases of cybercrime in Maharashtra.

• The Salem Starch and Sago Manufacturers Service Industrial Co-operative Society Limited, commonly known as SagoServe, has been conferred with the Geographical Indication (GI) tag for Salem Sago.
• Nagaland has become the 1st State in the North Eastern Region to initiate Aadhaar Linked Birth Registration (ALBR).

• Sovereign Gold Bonds (SGB) opened for subscription which will remain open for buying till 15th September.
• Market share of PSU general insurers reached for the first time below a third of industry’s premium.
• Retail inflation, based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI), slipped to 6.83 per cent in August this year.
• As per the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation data, IIP grew by 5.7 per cent in July this year as compared to 3.7 per cent in June 2023.

• The Markets regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), plans to introduce one-hour trade settlements in India by the end of the fiscal year, March 2024 with an aim to significantly reduce the time taken for the settlement of securities transactions.
• Hitachi Payment Services, a 100% subsidiary of Japan-based Hitachi Limited, has launched India’s first Unified Payments Interface (UPI)-Automated Teller Machine (ATM) in collaboration with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).
• The Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI), has established a net worth requirement of Rs 1 crore for direct plan distributors interested in registering with them as execution-only platforms (EOPs).
• PSB Alliance Private Limited, a company established by public sector banks (PSBs), plans to expand to 6,800 centres across India by June 2024, a substantial increase from the current 100 centres with an aim to significantly increase the coverage of its DSB services.
• According to the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), the United Payments Interface (UPI) crossed 10 billion in the volume of transactions in August 2023, marking a significant milestone for the payments.
• State-owned Punjab National Bank (PNB) has launched Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) with a Unified Payments Interface (UPI) interoperability feature in its digital rupee mobile application.
• Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das has launched several new digital payment products including Credit Line on UPI, UPI LITE X, Tap & Pay, Hello! UPI, and Conversational Bill Payments by National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) during the Global Fintech Festival.·
• The Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry is preparing to disburse the first tranche of loans for ongoing projects in tier-2 and tier-3 cities under the Urban Infrastructure Development Fund (UIDF).
• Mastercard has strategically partnered with KredX (Minions Ventures Private Limited), India’s largest supply chain finance platform, to transform Business to Business (B2B) digital payments, benefitting both enterprises and vendors.
• The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has stated that payments to the SEBI Investor Protection and Education Fund (IPEF) account can now be made only through online mode.

• AU Small Finance Bank Limited has launched the ‘Zenith + Super Premium Metal Credit Card’ as an addition to its range of banking solutions.
• AU Small Finance Bank (AU SFB) and Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance have announced a strategic partnership to provide a wide range of life insurance products to AU Small Finance Banks diverse customer base, addressing their financial security needs.
• Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance Company Limited has launched a new savings plan called “Bajaj Allianz Life ACE.”
• IDEMIA, a global identity technologies and biometric solutions provider, has formed a partnership with Airtel Payments Bank (a subsidiary of Bharti Airtel) and HMD Global (the manufacturer of Nokia Phones) to introduce an offline system for enabling digital rupee payments on feature phones.
• PhonePe has launched a first-of-its-kind celebrity voice feature on its SmartSpeakers in collaboration with the iconic Indian actor Amitabh Bachchan.
• State Bank of India, the country’s largest bank, has introduced the ‘Nation First Transit Card’ with the primary goal of enhancing commuting experiences and promoting digital payment adoption.
• Bank of Baroda (BoB) has enabled the Unified Payments Interface (UPI)-Automated Teller Machine (ATM) facility at its ATMs nationwide. This new facility will allow customers to withdraw cash from ATMs without the need for a debit or credit card.

• The Asian Development Bank (ADB) released its 2023 Trade Finance Gaps, Growth, and Jobs Survey, revealing that the global trade finance gap expanded to an unprecedented $2.5 trillion in 2022, compared to $1.7 trillion two years earlier.

• Spice Money, a subsidiary of DiGiSPICE Technologies is a fintech building ‘nano preneurs’ for emerging India, has partnered with Wimbo, a company under PayU, to introduce ‘Spice Pay,‘ an innovative UPI (Unified Payments Interface) solution aimed at empowering rural India.
• ICICI Bank has received approval from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to make I-Process Services (India) Private Limited (I-Process) its wholly-owned subsidiary, subject to certain conditions, as per the bank’s latest regulatory filing.
• India’s leading exchange, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) has received approval from the Securities & Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to introduce Options on Futures for NYMEX WTI Crude Oil and Natural Gas futures contracts within its commodity derivatives segment.
• Thomas Cook (India) Limited witnessed a 5% surge in its shares following the announcement of its partnership with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) to launch a RuPay prepaid forex card for Indian travellers heading to the UAE.
• Bharti AXA Life Insurance has introduced a new insurance product called “Bharti AXA Life Income Laabh” with the goal of simplifying insurance and providing maximum protection to customers.

• The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has granted approval for the re-appointment of Sandeep Bakhshi as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD & CEO) of India’s 2nd largest private sector bank, ICICI Bank.

• REC Limited, the Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Power, has signed a Foreign Currency Term Loan Agreement for USD 100 Million, with the Export-Import Bank of India.
• Indian Railways’ Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV) Vadodara and Airbus have entered into a collaboration to strengthen the Indian aviation sector through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
