Padma Awards 2019: Padma Awards is one of the highest civilian awards in our India. Padma Awards are conferred in three categories namely #PadmaVibhushan, #PadmaBhushan, and #PadmaShri. These awards are conferred by our President of India at ceremonial functions which are held at Rashtrapati Bhawan usually around March or April every year. The awards are given in various disciplines or fields of activities such as civil service, education, literature, medicine, public affairs, social work, science and engineering, sports, trade, and industry etc. Bharath Ratna Award is India’s highest civilian award of the Republic of India. It is conferred for recognition of exceptional service/performance of the highest order without distinction of race, occupation, position or sex. The Padma Vibhushan is the second highest civilian award. It is conferred for exceptional and distinguished service; without distinction of race, occupation, position or sex. Padma Bhushan is the third highest civilian award for distinguished service of high order without distinction of race, occupation, position or sex and the Padma Shri for distinguished service in any field. The awards are announced on the occasion of Republic Day every year. The Padma Awards 2019 were announced on Friday. Totally 112 Padma awards were approved by our President of India. The list comprises 4 Padma Vibhushan Awards, 14 Padma Bhushan Awards, and 94 Padma Shri Awards. 21 of the awardees are women and the list also includes 11 persons from the category of Foreigners/NRI/PIO/OCI, 3 Posthumous awardees, and 1 transgender person. Our President of India Ram Nath Govind will be conferred these awards to the awardees.
