4 years ago, the ratio of the ages of Arun and Praveen = 8: 7 (8x, 7x)

Present ages of Arun and Praveen = 8x + 4, 7x + 4

Present age of Raju = (1/6)*Arun’s present age + 12

Arun’s present age = 36 years

8x = 32

x = 4

Praveen’s present age = 7x + 4 = 32

Raju’s present age = (1/6)*36 + 12 = 18

Required ratio = 32: 18 = 16: 9

The present age of Kala and her husband = 4 : 5 (4x, 5x)

The present age Kala’s daughter = (1/3)*Kala’s present age

Kala’s daughter = Kala’s son – 3

Kala’s son after 5 years = 20 years

Kala’s son’s present age = 15 years

Kala’s daughter = 15 – 3 = 12 years

Kala’s present age = 3*12 = 36 years

4’s = 36

1’s = 9

Present age of Kala’s husband = 5x = 45 years

Required difference = 45- 36 = 9 years

3.Answer a

Ratio of present ages of Sri and Gowtham = 5:7 (5x, 7x)

Rajesh = Sri + 5 = 5x + 5

Rajesh = Gowtham – 1 = 7x – 1

According to the question,

5x + 5 = 7x – 1

7x – 5x = 6

2x = 6

X = 3

Present age of Sri = 5x = 15

Present age of Gowtham = 7x = 21

Required sum = 15 + 21 = 36 years

The ratio of B’s age six years hence to C’s present age = 4: 3 (4x, 3x)

Present age of B and C = 4x – 6, 3x

A = 2*C = 2*3x = 6x

B = A – 14

4x – 6 = 6x – 14

14 – 6 = 6x – 4x

2x = 8

X = 4

C’s age 2 years ago = 3x – 2 = 12- 2 = 10 years

3 years ago, the ratio between the ages of Asha and Ragu = 3 : 4 (3x, 4x)

Praveen = Ragu + 6

Asha’s age, after 4 years = 25

Asha’s present age = 21 years

3x + 3 = 21

3x = 18

Ragu’s present age = 4x + 3 = 27 years

Present age of Praveen = 27 + 6 = 33 years

6.Answer c

Let the age of Anusha and Nisha be x and y respectively,

x*y = 300

2*x = y + 10

X = (y + 10)/2

[(y + 10)/2]*y = 300

Y² + 10y = 600

Y² + 10y – 600 = 0

(y – 20) (y + 30) = 0

Y = 20, -30 (-30 will be eliminated)

Anusha’s age = 300/20 = 15 years

7.Answer a

Let the present ages of Ram and his wife are 5x and 4x respectively.

(5x – 5)/(4x – 5) = 9/7

=> 35x – 35 = 36x – 45

=> x = 10

Present age of Ram = 5x = 50 years

Present age of his wife = 4x = 40 years

Let after y years ratio of their ages will be 6: 5,

(50 + y)/(40 + y) = 6/5

=> 250 + 5y = 240 + 6y

=> y = 250 – 240

=> y = 10 years

4 years ago, the ratio of ages of Raghav and Karuna = 2: 3(2x, 3x)

Karuna’s age after 5 years = 27 years

Karuna’s present age = 22 years

3’s = 18

1’s = 6

Raghav’s present age = 2x + 4 = 16 years

According to the question,

16 + 22 = 7 + Meena’s present age

38 – 7 = Meena’s present age

Meena’s present age = 31 years

The ratio of present ages of Sanjay and Anand = 5: 4 (5x, 4x)

3 years hence, their ratio will become = 11: 9

According to the question,

(5x + 3)/(4x + 3) = (11/9)

45x + 27 = 44x + 33

Sanjay’s present age = 5x = 30 years

Present age of Priyanka = 30/2 = 15 years.

The ratio of present age of Meena and her son’s age = 3 : 1 (3x, x)

Meena’s present age = (2/5)*Meena’s father’s present age

Meena’s father’s present age = (15/2)x

According to the question,

x + 3x + (15/2) x = 138

(2x + 6x + 15x)/2 = 138

23x = 138*2

x = 12

Required difference = 90 – 12 = 78 years
