Answers:

1) Answer: C

Let the number of passed students be a

Then total marks =>60 x 18= 19 a + (60 – a) x 7

1080 =19a + 420 – 7a

1080 – 420 = 19a – 7a

660 = 12a

a = 660/12

a = 55

Therefore the number of students who passed the examination is 55

2) Answer: D

Let the required number of non- workers = a

Then, 220a + 920 x 30 = 240 (30 + a)

220a+27600=240 (30 + a)

220a+27600=7200+240a

240a-220a=27600-7200

20a=20400

a=20400/20

a=1020

Therefore the required number of non- workers is 1020

3) Answer: B

R+S+A = (36*3) = 108 kg

R+S = (32*2) =64kg

S+A = (34*2) =68kg

Q = (R+S) + (S+A) – (R+S+A)

=64 + 68 – 108

=132 – 108

=24kg

Therefore weight of Seetha is 24kg

4) Answer: D

The age of 29 workers = (29*12)

=348 yrs

Average age of 30 persons = 12 yrs 6 months = 12 ½ years

=25 / 2 yrs

Total age of 30 persons = (25 / 2)* 30

=375 yrs

Age of the manager = (375 – 348)

=27 yrs

5) Answer: D

Let the original average expenditure be Rs. x

Then, 54(x-2) – 45x = 54

54x – 108 -45x = 54

9x – 108 = 54

9x = 162

X=162 / 9

X=18

Original expenditure = Rs. (45*18)

= Rs. 810

6) Answer: A

Total age of 5 members, 5 yrs ago = (30*5)

=150yrs

Total age of 5 members now = (150 + (5*5))

=150+25 = 175 yrs

Total age of 7 members now = (30*7) = 210 yrs

Sum of the ages of 2 children = (210 – 175) yrs

=35 yrs

Let the age of the younger child be x yrs.

Then age of the elder child = (x+3) yrs

So x+x+3 = 35

2x +3 = 35

2x = 32

X=16

Age of younger child is 16 yrs

7) Answer: C

Present age of (Rahul + Shyam) = (36*2) + (6*2)

=71+12

=84yrs

Present age of (Rahul + Shyam + Kowshik) = (44*3)

=132yrs

Therefore Kowshik age = (132 – 84)

=48yrs

8) Answer: C

Let P, Q, R, S & T represent their respective weights

Then, P+Q+R = (42*3)

=126kg

P+Q+R+S = (40*4)kg

=160kg

S = (160 – 126)

=34kg

T = (34+2) = 36kg

Q+R+S+T = (39* 40

=156kg

Now, (P+Q+R+S) – (Q+R+S+T) = 160 – 156

=4kg

P – T = 4kg

P = (4+T) = 4+36

P=40kg

9) Answer: B

Let J, V & Y represent their respective monthly salary

Then we have,

J+V = 11100*2 = 22200 ———>1

V+Y = 12500*2 = 25000 ———–>2

J+Y = 10400*2 = 20800 ——–>3

Adding 1, 2 & 3 we get

2J +2V+2Y = 22200+25000+20800

2(J+V+Y) = 68000

J+V+Y = 34000    ————–>4

Subtract 2 from 4 we get

J+V+Y – V – Y = 34000 – 25000

J = 9000

Jai’s monthly income = Rs.9000

10) Answer: B

Let there be x students in the class

Average = Total marks/no of students

Total marks = Average * no of students

Total increase in marks = (64 – 44)

According to the question,

X*(1/3) =20

X = 3*20

X = 60

The no. of students in the class is 60.
