Answers:

1). Answer: E)

Let the age of Arun and Nithin be A and N,

According to the first condition

A + N = 9 (A – N)

N + 9N = 9A – A

10N = 8 A

The ratio of present age of A : N = 5 : 4

According to second condition

(5x + 6) + (4x + 6) = 12(5x – 4x)

9x + 12 = 12x

3x = 12

x = 4

Arun’s present age = 5x = 20

2). Answer: A)

4 years ago, the ratio of age of Harish uncle to that of Harish

= > 5 : 1 (5x, x)

4 years hence, the ratio of age of Harish uncle to that of Harish

= > 3 : 1

According to the question,

(5x + 8)/(x + 8) = (3/1)

5x + 8 = 3x + 24

5x – 3x = 24 – 8

2x = 16

x = 8

Present age of Harish uncle = 5 * 8 + 4 = 44

Present age of Harish = 12

3). Answer: C)

X – mother; y-daughter

x – y = 30

y = x – 30

After 4 Years

x + 4 = 4 (y + 4)

x + 4 = 4 (x – 30 + 4)

x + 4 = 4x – 120 + 16

4 + 104 = 4x – x

3x = 108

X = 36 years

4). Answer: D)

Ratio of the ages of saran and Prem = 7 : y

Saran = Priya – 12

After 9 years, Priya = 42

Present age of Priya = 42 – 9 = 33 years

Present age of Saran =33 – 12 = 21

According to the question,

Saran – Prem = Priya – Saran

21 – Prem = 33 – 21

Prem = 9

Present age of Prem = 9 years

(7/y) = (21/9)

Y = 3

The value of y = 3

5). Answer: A)

B’s present age = x

A’s present age = x + 3x = 4x

4x + 4 = 7/2 (x + 4)

8x + 8 = 7x + 28

8x – 7x = 28 – 8 = 20

x = 20

After 10 years, the age of B = x + 10 = 30 years

6). Answer: A)

Let present age of Rakesh be x and his brother be 4x

According to question,

x + 5/4x+5= 2/5

5x+ 25= 8x +10

3x= 15

x= 5

Total age of Rakesh, Rakesh’s brother and their mother= 20*3= 60 years

So, age of Rakesh’s mother= 60- (5 + 5*4) = 35 years

7). Answer: C)

The ratio of age of father and son = 5 : 1(5x, x)
The age of daughter = (1/2)*mother’s age
F = M + 10
M = 5x – 10
D = (5x – 10)/2
S = D – 10
X = [(5x – 10)/2] – 10
X = [5x – 10 – 20]/2
2x = 5x – 30
3x = 30
X = 10
The age of the father = 5x = 50 years

8). Answer: C)

Let the age of Pranav be 7x and Praveen be 15x

According to the question,

15x-7x = 16

8x= 16

x= 2

Age of Pranav = 7*2 = 14 years

Age of Praveen= 15 * 2= 30 years

Amit’s age= 3*2= 6 years

Amit’s father age = 6* 4 = 24 years

9). Answer: B)

Let their ages is 8x and 5x

Product = 40x2 = 2560

x2 = 2560 / 40 = 64

x = 8

Their ages =64 : 40

4 years ago = 60 : 36 = 15 : 9 = 5 : 3

10). Answer: C)

17 years back, the ratio of age of milky and vijay = 3 : 1

Milky’s present age = 45 – 10 = 35

17 yrs back, Milky’s age = 18

3’s = 18

1’s = 6

Now vijay age = 6 + 17 =23 years
