Quantity II: If 2 balls are drawn randomly, then find the probability of getting both the balls are either white or black?
Quantity II: The perimeter of the square is 96 cm. Then the area of the square is?
Answers:
1). Answer c
Quantity I:
The area of rectangular garden= 1715 Sq m
Length = (140/100)*breadth
l/b = 7/5 = > l : b = 7 : 5
7x*5x = 1715
35x2 = 1715
X2 = (1715/35) = 49
X = 7
Length = 49 m, Breadth = 35 m
Perimeter of the garden = 2*(l + b) = 2*(49 + 35) =2*84 = 168 m
Quantity II:
The area of a square park = 1936 Sq m
Area (a2) = 1936
Side (a) = 44
Perimeter of the park = 4a = 4*44 = 176 m
Quantity II > Quantity I
2). Answer a
Quantity I:
The present age of Mano = 42 years
Julee = Mano – 3 = 42 – 3 = 39 years
After 4 years, the age of Julee = 39 + 4 = 43 years
Quantity II:
16 years ago, the ratio of their ages = 2 : 1(2x, x)
According to the question,
X = 20
16 years hence, the age of Ravi and Banu = 40 and 20
Present age of Ravi and Banu = 24 and 4
After 8 years the age of Ravi = 32 years
Quantity I > Quantity II
3). Answer a
Quantity I:
S.I = P*n*r/100
S.I = (26000*2*13)/100 = Rs. 6760
Quantity II:
C.I:
26000*(12/100) = 3120
29120*(12/100) = 3494.4
C.I = 3120 + 3494.4 = Rs. 6614.4
Quantity I > Quantity II
4). Answer a
Quantity I:
Selling price of the article = 450*(90/100) = Rs. 405
Cost price of the article
= > CP*(120/100) = 405
= > CP = 405*(100/120)
= > CP = 337.50
Quantity II:
Selling price of the book = 250*(85/100) = Rs. 212.50
Cost price of the book = 212.50*(100/125) = Rs. 170
Quantity I > Quantity II
5). Answer c
Quantity I:
Let the time of downstream and upstream x.
Speed of downstream= 6/x km/hr
Speed of upstream= 4/x km/hr
48/(6/x) + 48/(4/x) = 16
=>20x=16
=> x= 4/5 =0.8
Speed of downstream= 6/x = 6/0.8 =7.5 km/hr
Speed of upstream= 4/x = 4/0.8 = 5 km/hr
The speed of the stream is,
= > ½ (7.5- 5)
= > 2.5/2 = 1.25 km/hr
Quantity II:
Speed of still water = 10 km/hr
Speed of the flowing water = 4 km/hr
The average speed of the boat for that journey is,
=> Total Distance/ Time
=> 2x/ (x/(10+4) + (x/ (10-4))
=> 2x/ (x/14 + x/6)
=> 84/10
=> 8.4 km/hr
Quantity II > Quantity I
6). Answer c
Quantity I:
(x1/4 / 16)2 = (144 / x3/2 ) = (x1/2 / 256) = (144 / x3/2 )
(x1/2) × (x3/2) = 256 × 144
x2 = (256 × 144)
x = √(256 × 144)
x = ± (16 × 12) = ±192
Quantity II:
y1/3 × y2/3 × 3104 = 16y2
y × 3104 = 16y2
3104 = 16y
Y = 3104 / 16 = 194
x < y
Quantity II > Quantity I
7). Answer a
Quantity I:
Speed = Distance/Time
= > 200/8
= > 25 m/sec
The speed of the train = 25 m/sec
Quantity II:
Distance = Length of train + Platform length = 175 + 250 = 425 m
Speed = 425/25 = 17 m/sec
Quantity I > Quantity II
8). Answer c
Quantity I:
4 years ago, Total age of four members (A+B+C+D) =46*4=184
Present age of 4 members=184+16=200
E joining with them, total members are five.
Total age = 45*5=225
The age of E = 225 – 200 =25 years
Quantity II:
The average age of 10 persons increased by 2 years,
=> Increased age = 10*2 =20 years
When 2 of them whose ages are 20 and 22 years, are replaced by 2 girls
=> 20 + 22 = 42 years
Girls age = 42 + 20 = 62 years
The average age of the girls
=> 62/2 = 31 years
Quantity II > Quantity I
9). Answer a
Total no of balls = 5 + 6 + 3 = 14 balls
Quantity I:
n(S) = 14C3 = (14*13*12)/(1*2*3)
The probability of getting at least one yellow ball = 1- P (None is yellow ball)
P (None is yellow ball)
n(E) = 8C3 = (8*7*6)/(1*2*3)
P(E) = n(E)/n(S) = 8C3 /14C3
= > [(8*7*6)/(1*2*3)] / [(14*13*12)/(1*2*3)]
= > 2/13
Required probability = 1- (2/13) = 11/13
Quantity II:
n(S) = 14C2 = (14*13)/(1*2)
n(E) = Probability that both the balls are either white or black
n(E) = 5C2 or 3C2
P(E) = n(E)/n(S)
= > [5C2 or 3C2] / 14C2
= > [10 + 3] / [(14*13)/(1*2)]
= > (13*2)/(14*13) = 1/7
Quantity I > Quantity II
10). Answer e
Quantity I:
The diagonal of the square = 24√2 cm
The area of the square = (1/2)*(diagonal)2
= > (1/2)*(24√2)2
= > (1/2)*24*24*2
= > 576 Sq cm.
Quantity II:
The perimeter of the square = 96 cm
4a = 96
Side (a) = 96/4 = 24 cm
The area of the square = a2 = 242 = 576 Sq cm.
Quantity I = Quantity II
