- Rs. 600
- Rs. 500
- Rs. 450

- 40/9 days
- 39/9 days
- 43/9 days
- None of these
Answers:
1)Answer: D
The ratio of efficiency of Arun and Chitra = 5:3
The ratio of number of days taken by Arun and Chitra = 3 : 5
The ratio of number of days taken by Chitra and Banu = 2:3
Ratio of number of days taken by Arun : Chitra : Banu = 6:10:15
According to the question,
= > Chitra – Arun = 8 days
= > 10’s – 6’s = 8
= > 4’s = 8
= > 1’s = 2
Number of days taken to finish the whole work,
= > Arun = 12 days, Chitra = 20 days, Banu = 30 days
Work done by Banu and Chitra in two days,
= > (2/20) + (2/30) = (1/10) + (1/15) = 25/(10*15) = (1/6)
Rest of the work = 5/6
The number of days taken by Arun to finish the remaining work is,
Number of days = (5/6)*12= 10 days
2) Answer: B
1/x + 1/2x = 1/20 + 1/30
3/2x = 1/12
X = 18
Number of days taken by Arun = 18 days
3) Answer: C
Efficiency (A : B) =150:100= 3 : 2
Then days 2:3
B takes 21 days to do the work. Then A takes 14 days to do the work.
Total units of work = 42(LCM of 14,21)
A = 3 unit
B = 2 unit
A and B worked for 5days ==>5*(3+2) = 25 unit
Remaining = (42-25) =17 unit
Then A did that 17 unit alone in 17/3= 5 2/3 days.
4) Answer: C
Let the no of men be x,
A piece of work has to be completed in 50 days
According to the question,
Men days work
X 30 (1/2)
(x +20) 20 (1/2)
Work = men * days
= > 30x/(1/2) = (x + 20)*20/(1/2)
= > 30x = (x + 20)*20
= > 30x = 20x + 400
= > 10x = 400
= > x = 40 men
5)Answer: B
Let, x workers can do the work in 20 days.
Then no of workers require to finish it in 30 days is 20x / 30
20x/30 = (x – 20)
10x = 600
x = 60
So, the no of workers required to finished it in 50 days = (60 * 20) / 50 = 24 workers.
6) Answer: C
A = 6 days
B = 8 days
C = (1/3) – (1/8 + 1/6) = 1/24
So, C alone can complete the work in 24 days.
Then the ratio 1/6 : 1/8 : 1/24 = 4 : 3 : 1
Now total amount Rs. 4000
8’s = 4000
1’s = 500
The amount paid to C is Rs 500.
7) Answer: A
Ram and Ravi worked together
1/20+1/15 = (3+4)/60= 7/60
They work for 6 days so 7/60*6 = 7/10
Remaining work 3/10 done by Ram and Rohit.
Ram and Rohit finished it in 4days
(3/10)*(Ram + Rohit)’s whole work = 4
(Ram + Rohit)’s whole work = 40/3
Rohit’s one day work = (3/40) – (1/20) = 1/40
Rohit alone can complete the work in 40 days
8) Answer: B
1/8 + 1/12 + 1/C = ¼
1/C = (1/4) – (1/8 + 1/12)
(1/C) = (1/4) – (5/24) = 1/24
We get C = 24 days
Now efficiency of A, B and C are in the ratio of = 1/8 :1/12 : 1/24 = 3 : 2 : 1
6’s = 1200
1’s = 200
So share of C = Rs. 200
9) Answer: A
(1/20 + 1/25)*x + 12/25 = 1
(1/20 + 1/25)*x = 1 – (12/25)
(1/20 + 1/25)*x = 13/25
9x/100 = 13/25
We will get x = 52/9
X = 5 7/9 days
10)Answer: B
Q is 25 percent more efficient than P
Efficiency ratio Q : P = 5 : 4
Days ratio Q : P = 4 : 5
P can do a piece of work in 20 days
5’s = 20 = > 1’s = 4
So Q can complete the work in 16 days
(1/20 + 1/16)*x = ½
[36/(20*16)]*x = 1/2X = 40/9 days
