Answers:
1). Answer c
(x – 5)/15 + 6/18 = 1
(x – 5)/15 + (1/3) = 1
(x – 5 + 5)/15 = 1
X = 15 days
2). Answer a
Total work = 12*15 = 180 work
5 days work = 12*5 = 60 work
Remaining work = 180 – 60 = 120
According to the question,
= > 120/20 = 6 days
The total no of days = 6 + 5 = 11 days
The work gets completed in 11 days
3). Answer d
Total work = men*days
Total units of work = 15*12 = 180 units
Work done in 4 days = 15*4 = 60 units
Remaining work = 180 – 60 = 120 units
Let the number of men left after 4 days be x
According to the question,
120/10 = 15 – x
12 = 15 – x
X = 3 men
After 4 days from the start of the work, 3 men left the job.
4). Answer b
(A + B)’s one day work = (1/12)
(B + C)’s one day work = (1/6)
(C + A)’s one day work = (1/10)
2(A + B + C)’s one day work = (1/12) + (1/6) + (1/10) = 21/60 = 7/20
(A + B + C)’s one day work = 7/40
C’s one day work = (A + B + C) – (A + B)
= > (7/40) – (1/12)
= > (84 – 40)/(40*12)
= > 44/(40*12)
= > 11/120
C can complete a whole work in = 120/11 = 10 10/11 days
5). Answer a
Total work = (men (or) women)*days
Work equal,
(9w + 5m)*9 = (8w + 9m)*6
81w + 45m = 48w + 54m
33w = 9m
11w = 3m
m= 11/3
9w + 5m = 9w + (55/3)w = (82/3)w
5w + 9m = 5w + 33w = 38w
Women days
(82/3) 9
38 ?
(82/3)*9 = 38x
X = (41*3)/19 = 123/19 = 6 9/19 days
6). Answer d
Shortcut:
Men women days
6 9 69
10 8 ?
Required days = (6*9*69)/(48 + 90) = (6*9*69)/138
= > 27 days
(Or)
6 men = 9 women
2 men = 3 women
1 men = (3/2) women
10 m + 8 w = 10*(3/2) w + 8 w = 23 w
Women days
9 69
23 ?
= > (9*69)/23 = 27 days
7). Answer c
Efficiency ratio = > Q : P = 6 : 5
Days ratio = > Q : P = 5 : 6
P can do a piece of work in 18 days
6’s = 18 = > 1’s = 3
So Q can complete the work in 15 days
(1/18 + 1/15)*x = 3/4
[33/(18*15)]*x = 3/4X = 135/22 days = 6 3/22 days
8). Answer b
1/10 + 1/15 + 1/C = 1/5
1/C = (1/5) – (1/10 + 1/15)
(1/C) = (1/5) – (1/6) = 1/30
C can do it in 30 days.
Efficiency of A, B and C = (1/10) : (1/15) : (1/30) = 3 : 2 : 1
6’s = 1800
1’s = 300
The share of C = Rs. 300
9). Answer d
Ganesh and Ragu’s one day work = (1/25) + (1/20) = 45/(25*20) = 9/100
Ganesh and Ragu’s 8 day work = (9/100)*8 = 18/25
Remaining work 7/25 done by Ganesh and Rohit
Ganesh and Rohit finished it in 3 ½ days
(7/25)*(Ganesh + Rohit)’s whole work = (7/2)
(Ganesh + Rohit)’s whole work = 25/2
Rohit’s one day work = (2/25) – (1/25) = 1/25
Rohit alone can complete the work in 25 days
10). Answer c
Total work = men * days
Total work = 15*12 = 180
3 days work = 15*4 = 60
Remaining work = 180 – 60 = 120 work
Now, the total men = 15 – 3 + 8 = 20 men
Remaining work can be completed in,
= > 120/20 = 6 days
Remaining work can complete it in 6 days.
