Answers:
Directions ( Q. 1 -5):
1 Answer: d)
(3 / 5) × (2 / 7) × (35 / 18) × ? = 405
Or, ? = [(405 × 5 × 7 ×18) / (3 × 2 × 35)] = 1215
2). Answer: a)
24 % of 6550 – 175 % of ? = 697
Or, [(24 × 6550) / 100 ] – [175 × ?/ 100] = 697
or, [(1572 – 697) × 100] / 175 = ?
:. ? = (87500 / 175) = 500
3). Answer: e)
254 × (1 / 7) × (1 / 8) = ? ÷ 21
Or, ? = [(254 × 21) / 56] = 95 (1 / 4)
4). Answer: d)
[(? × 2410) / 100] = (2892 ÷ 12 ) × 13= 241 × 13 = 3133
:.? = [(3133 × 1000) / 2410] = 130
5). Answer: a)
[(√(81 × 64) ÷ (4.5))] × 18 = (?)^2 – 153Or, (9 × 8 ÷ 4.5) × 18 = (?)^2 – 153
Or, 16 × 18 + 153 = (?)^2
:. ? = √(288 + 153) = √441 = 21
Directions (Q. 6-10):
The pattern of the number series is ×0.5+1, ×1+3, ×1.5+5, ×2+7, ×2.5+9
7× 0.5 +1 = 4.5
4.5×1 +3 = 7.5
7.5×1.5 +5 = 16.25
16.25×2 +7 = 39.50
39.50×2.5+9 = 107.75
107.75×3 +11 = 334.25
The series is
543 + (5)^3 = 668, 668 + (6)^2 = 704, 704 + (7)^3 = 1047, 1047 + (8)^2 =1111
1111 + (9)^3 = 1840
8). Answer: a)
50+(1^3+1) = 52
52+(2^3+1)=61.
61+(3^3+1)=89
89+(4^3+1)=154
154 + (5^3+1) = 280
(or)
The differences are like, 1^3+1, 2^3+1, 3^3+1, 4^3+1, 5^3+1
9). Answer: a)
2916/3 = 972
972/3 = 324
324/3 = 108
108/3 = 36
36/3 = 12
10). Answer: a)
x 6 – 1, x 5 – 1, x 4 – 1, x 3 – 1 = 935 x 3 – 1 = 2804
Directions (Q.11-15):
Investment made by A and E in March = 52 + 83 = 135
Investment made by B and D in January = 28 + 32 = 60
Hence, required difference = 135 – 60 = 75
Required average = (47 + 55 + 24)/3 = 126/3 = 42
The total investment of companies,
In January = 25 + 28 + 50 + 32 + 24 + 35 = 194 lakh
In February = 45 + 40 + 60 + 55 + 28 + 38 = 266 lakh
In March = 52 + 38 + 46 + 72 + 83 + 65 = 356 lakh
In April = 80 + 45 + 70 + 90 + 65 + 76 = 426 lakh
In May = 15 + 20 + 47 + 25 + 13 + 30 = 150 lakh
In June = 62 + 95 + 27 + 80 + 50 + 20 = 334 lakh
Hence, April month has the maximum investments.
Required percent = (80 – 62)/ 80 × 100 = 18 / 80 × 100 = 22.5% = 23%
Required average = (35 + 38 + 65 + 76 + 30 + 20)/6 = 264/6 = 44
Let the total amount of work is equal to = 1 unit
A can finish the work in 24 days it means in 1 day he will finish 1/24th of the work, in the
Similar way in 1 day B will finish 1/9 th amount of work and C will finish 1/12th amount of work.
So, (B + C)’s 1 day’s work = (1/9 + 1/12) unit= 7/36 unit
Work done by B and C in 3 days = 7/36 X 3 = 7/12 unit
Remaining work = (1 – 7/12) unit = 5/12unit
Now, 1/24 unit work is done by A in one day.
Let’s suppose he completes the remaining work in a day then,
1/24 X a = 5/12
=> a= 5/12 X 24 = 10 days
17). Answer: c)
Total age of 80 boys = 80 x 19 = 1520
Total age of 15 boys = 15 x 21 = 315
Total age of next 25 boys = 18 x 25 = 450
Average of the remaining boys
= [ 1520 – {315 + 450} ] / [80 – (15+25)] = 1520-765 / 40
= 755/40 = 18.875 yrs
18). Answer: b)
Let their present ages be 13x and 17x respectively.
Therefore, (13x-4 ) / (17x-4) = 11/15
x = 2
Reqd ratio = (13×2+6) / (17×2+6) = 32/40 = 4: 5
Quicker Approach:
In ratio 2 = 4 yrs
1 = 2 yrs
Kalpana’s present age = 13 x 2 = 26 yrs
Ruhani’s present age = 17 x 2 = 34 yrs
Reqd ratio = 26 + 6 : 34 + 6 =32 : 40 = 4 : 5
19). Answer: e)
Speed = Distance / Time
60 = L+P / 20
L + P = (60 x 20)
Hence we can’t determine the length of the platform.
20). Answer: d)
Let the amount borrowed by Rohit at 12% per annum be x.
Now, SI at 12% = (x × 2 ×12)/100 = Rs. 6x/25
And SI at 10% = [(30000—x) x 10 x 2] / 100
= Rs. (30000 — x)/ 5
Again, (6x/25) + [ (30000— x)*5/ 25] = 6480 [36480 — 30000 = 6480]
x = (6x/25) + [ 5(30000— x) / 25] = 6480
or, x = 25 × 6480 = 150000
= 162000 – 150000 = Rs. 12000
Amount borrowed by Rohit at 12% is Rs. 12000.
