a) 65 %

b) 42 %

c) 84 %

d) 95 %

e) 76 %

Answers :

Direction (1-5) :

1) Answer: c)

I) 2x2 + 15x + 27 = 0

2x2 + 6x + 9x + 27 = 0

2x (x + 3) + 9 (x + 3) = 0

(2x + 9) (x + 3) = 0

X = -9/2, -3 = -4.5, -3

II) 3y2 + 13y + 14 = 0

3y2 + 6y + 7y + 14 = 0

3y (y + 2) + 7 (y + 2) = 0

(3y + 7) (y + 2) = 0

Y = -7/3, -2 = -2.33, -2

X < y

2) Answer: e)

I) x = 1764 ÷ 9 + 13 % of 500 – 162

X = (1764/9) + (13/100)*500 – 256

X = 196 + 65 – 256 = 5

II) y2 – 2y – 63 = 0

(y – 9) (y + 7) = 0

Y = 9, -7

Can’t be determined

3) Answer: a)

I) 7x – 2y – 22 = 0

7x – 2y = 22 —-> (1)

II) 4x = 3y + 7

4x – 3y = 7 —-> (2)

By solving the equation (1) and (2), we get,

X = 4, y = 3

X > y

4) Answer: c)

I) (x + 4)/(x2 – 9) = 8/7

7x + 28 = 8x2 – 72

8x2 – 7x – 100 = 0

8x2 – 32x + 25x – 100 = 0

8x (x – 4) + 25 (x – 4) = 0

(8x + 25) (x – 4) = 0

X = -25/8, 4 = -3.125, 4

II) 5*(3y + 6) = 105

15y + 30 = 105

15y = 75

Y = 5

X < y

5) Answer: c)

I) 5x2 – 6x – 11 = 0

5x2 + 5x – 11x – 11 = 0

5x (x + 1) – 11 (x + 1) = 0

(5x – 11) (x + 1) = 0

X = 11/5, -1 = 2.2, -1

II) 2y2 – 11y + 15 = 0

2y2 – 6y – 5y + 15 = 0

2y (y – 3) – 5 (y – 3) = 0

(2y – 5) (y – 3) = 0

Y = 5/2, 3 = 2.5, 3

X < y

Direction (6-10) :

6) Answer: c)

The total amount of 20 tiles of type P, 25 tiles of type R and 15 tiles of type S in the year 2016

= > (20*200) + (25*270) + (15*330)

= > 4000 + 6750 + 4950 = Rs. 15700

7) Answer: a)

The price of all the given types of tiles in the year 2013

= > 260 + 290 + 360 + 320 = 1230

The price of all the given types of tiles in the year 2017

= > 230 + 310 + 370 + 400 = 1310

Required ratio = 1230: 1310 = 123: 131

8) Answer: b)

The average price of type S tiles of all the given years together

= > (350 + 320 + 330 + 340 + 330 + 400)/6

= > 2070/6 = Rs. 345

9) Answer: d)

The prices of all the given types of tiles in the year 2012

= > 240 + 280 + 320 + 350 = Rs. 1190

The prices of all the given types of tiles in the year 2015

= > 270 + 320 + 380 + 340 = Rs. 1310

Required difference = 1310 – 1190 = Rs. 120

10) Answer: e)

The prices of P and Q type tiles in the year 2012, 2013 and 2014 together

= > 240 + 280 + 260 + 290 + 220 + 290 = Rs. 1580

The prices of R and S type tiles in the year 2015, 2016 and 2017 together

= > 380 + 340 + 270 + 330 + 370 + 400 = Rs. 2090

Required % = (1580/2090)*100 = 75.598 % = 76 %
