Questions (1-4):
1. By putting ¥ in place of question mark we get
E @ V ? N % R £ T
(+) E
∣
V (+)— N (+)<=> R (-)
∣
T
Hence, e is grandfather of T.
Answer: c)
2. (+) A<=> L (-) — K (-)
∣
(+) B — C
Hence, K is sister-in-law of A.
Answer: a)
3. Option a) F (-)
∣
U (+)
∣
(-) N — K (+) — R
Thus, N is sister of R. Hence, option a) follows.
Option b) (-) N — F (-)
∣
K (+) — R (-) — U
Hence, option b) does not follow.
Option c) R (-) — U (+) — K (-) — N
Hence, option 3) does not follow.
Option d) (-) N
∣
(-)F — K (+) — R (-) — U
Hence, option d) does not follow.
Answer: a)
4. J (-)
↓
K (-)
↓
L (+)
↓
M (+) — N (-) — O
Answer: c)
Question (5-6):
Here code system given in the direction of the question is a forward-type coding. We use quick techniques for eliminating wrong answers.
In forward-type coding, reject an answer choice if the symbol immediately after person in question indicates the wrong sex.
Reject answer choices if the symbols used in the choices combinedly ushers inappropriate generation gaps.
Note that farther/mother generation gap is taken as +1; for brother/sister/husband/wife the gap is taken as 0; and for son/daughter the gap in taken as -1.
For more details see the Chapter Seventeen ‘coded Relationship’ of our book Magical Book Series on Analytical Reasoning by MK Pandey.
5. Here l should be male and the generation gap between L and F should be +1. Reject (d) because symbol used immediately after L is + (a symbol used for female). Reject © because there is no symbol immediately after L.
Now generation gap between L and F in equations:
(1) 0 + 0 + (-1) + 0 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 2
(2) 0 + 0 + (-1) + 0 + 1 + 0 + 1 = 1
Hence, reject (a) because the gap is b. Now make a family tree and check (b)
Answer: b)
6. Answer: c)
Question (7-11):
7.We put ⊙ in place of question mark
Clearly, P is sister of Q
Answer: a)
8.Option a)
Gender of F is not known.
Option b)
Hence, f is son of G
Option c)
F is husband of G.
Option d)
F is grandson of G.
Option e)
F is sister of G.
Answer: b)
9.We put ‘∆’ in place of question mark.
S is grandfather of T.
Answer: c)
10.
Clearly, T is daughter-in-law of P.
Answer: c)
11.Option a)
P is daughter of q. Hence, does not follow.
Option b)
P is daughter of Q. Hence, does not follow.
Option c)
P is granddaughter of q. Hence, follows.
Option d)
P is daughter of q.
Option e)
P is daughter of Q. Hence does not follow.
Answer: c)
