Answers:

1.Answer: A

Malleability is a substance’s ability to deform under pressure (compressive stress). If malleable, a material may be flattened into thin sheets by hammering or rolling. Malleable materials can be flattened into metal leaf. Many metals with high malleability also have high ductility.

2.Answer: C

Metals react with oxygen in the air to produce metal oxides, like magnesium oxide. Non-metals react with oxygen in the air to produce non-metal oxides. Here are two examples for the non-metals carbon and sulphur.

3.Answer: B

The unit was formerly an SI supplementary unit, but this category was abolished in 1995 and the radian is now considered an SI derived unit. Separately, the SI unit of solid angle measurement is the steradian.

4.Answer: D

Behaviorism refers to a psychological approach which emphasizes scientific and objective methods of investigation. Edward Thorndike (1874-1949) and John Broadus Watson (1878-1958) are the “fathers” of American behaviorism.

5.Answer: A

William Harvey was an English physician who made seminal contributions in anatomy and physiology. He was the first known physician to describe completely and in detail the systemic circulation and properties of blood being pumped to the brain and body by the heart.

6.Answer: C

The brainstem provides the main motor and sensory innervations to the face and neck via the cranial nerves. Of the twelve pairs of cranial nerves, ten pairs come from the brainstem.

7.Answer: C

Bird flu, also called avian influenza, is a viral infection that can infect not only birds, but also humans and other animals. Most forms of the virus are restricted to birds. H5N1 is the most common form of bird flu.

8.Answer: D

The magnitude of the electric current is measured in coulombs per second, the common unit for this being the Ampere or amp which is designated by the letter ‘A’.

9.Answer: C

Melittology is a branch of entomology concerning the scientific study of bees. It may also be called apicology. Melittology covers the species found in the clade Anthophila within the superfamily Apoidea, comprising more than 20,000 species, including bumblebees and honey bees.

10.Answer: D

Extending from the top of the thermosphere to 6,200 miles (10,000 km) above Earth is the exosphere, where weather satellites are. This layer has very few atmospheric molecules, which can escape into space.
