Answers :
Directions (1-5) :
1) Answer: C
Number of pen sold by company N in 2013
= > 400 – 600*(43/100)
= > 400 – 258 = 142 lakhs
Number of pen sold company N in 2014 = 142 + 200 = 342 lakhs
Number of pen produced by company N in 2014
= > 342*100/40 = 855 lakhs
2) Answer: B
Number of pens sold by company M in 2015
= > 480*15/100= 72 lakhs
Number of pens sold by company M in 2016
= > 72*17/8 = 153 lakhs
Required percentage = (153/680)*100 = 22.5 %
3) Answer: C
Number of pens sold in 2013
= > x*15/100 + (x+200)*40/100 = 630
= > 15x/100 + 40x/100 + 80 = 630
= > (15x+ 40x)/100 = 630 – 80
= > 55x = 550*100
= > x = 1000 lakhs
Number of pens sold in 2015 = (1000+200)*(40/100) = 480 lakhs
4) Answer: D
Number of pens sold by company N in 2016 = 900*(30/100) = 270 lakhs
Number of pens sold by company N in 2013 = 270*(110/100) = 297 lakhs
Number of pens sold by company N in 2014 = 297*8/9 = 264 lakhs
Number of pens produced by company N in 2014
= > 264*(100/40) = 660 lakhs
5) Answer: B
Total pens sold by company M in 2012, 2013 and 2014 together
= > 200*3= 600 lakhs
Number of pens sold by company M in 2014
= > 600 – [(60/100)*450 + (43/100)*600]
= > 600 – 270 – 258 = 72 lakhs
Number of pens produced by company M in 2014 = 72*(100/20) = 360 lakhs
Required percentage = (360/450)*100 = 80%
Directions (6-10) :
6) Answer: D
Anu + Bala + Kavin + Dany = 84
From I,
Anu + Bala + Dany = 25 * 3 = 75
Kavin = 84 – 75 = 9 years
This statement is not sufficient to answer the question.
From II,
Kavin + Dany = 30 * 2 = 60
From I and II,
Anu + Bala + Dany = 25 * 3 = 75
Kavin = 84 – 75 = 9 years
Kavin + Dany = 30 * 2 = 60
Dany = 60 – 9 = 51 years
This statement is not sufficient to answer the question.
Hence, both statements I and II together are not sufficient to answer the question.
7) Answer: B
From I,
4y + 3x = 18
=> y = (18 – 3x)/4
This statement is not sufficient to answer the question.
From II,
y – x = 2y – (3 + x)
=> y – x = 2y – 3- x
=> y = 3
This statement is sufficient to answer the question.
Hence, statement II alone is sufficient to answer the question.
8) Answer: E
Speed of the boat in still water = ½ * (Downstream speed + Upstream speed)
From I,
Upstream speed = 3 kmph
This statement is not sufficient to answer the question.
From II,
Downstream speed = 5 kmph
This statement is not sufficient to answer the question.
From I and II,
Speed in still water = (3 + 5)/2 = 4 kmph
Hence, both statements I and II together are necessary to answer the question.
9) Answer: C
From I,
C.P = S.P – Profit = 40000
Profit % = (S.P – C.P)/C.P * 100
= 40000/40000 * 100 = 100%
This statement is sufficient to answer the question.
From II,
C.P = S.P/2 = 80000/2 = 40000
Profit % = 40000/40000 * 100 = 100%
This statement is sufficient to answer the question.
Hence, statement I alone or statement II alone is sufficient to answer the question.
10) Answer: A
A + B + C + D = 240
From I,
A = 2/3 * (B + C + D) = 2/3 * (240 – A)
3A = 2 * 240 – 2A
5A = 480
A = 96
This statement is sufficient to answer the question.
From II,
This statement is not sufficient to answer the question.
