Box based puzzle
Directions (1-4): Study the following information carefully and answer the questions below.
Seven boxes are placed one above the other like a stack. Each box contains some toffees. Box F contains second highest number of toffees. The box A is immediately next to F (Either above or below). More than one box is placed above the third highest toffee box which is Box E and Box E has four more toffees than box B. Box G has 35 toffees and placed either at top or bottom. Two boxes are placed between box E and box F. The difference between fifth and second highest toffee boxes is the number of toffees in the box A. No box contains number of toffees more than 64 and less than 16. The number of toffees in the box A and box D are cube and square of one even number which is below five respectively. The number of toffees in box B is half of the number of toffees in box D. The top of the box contains fewer toffees than that of bottom box. The highest number of toffees containing box is placed third from the bottom. Second highest toffee box is placed above the highest number of toffee box. Only the top and bottom boxes contain multiple of five number of toffees. Two boxes are placed between box A and box D. Box G contains ten more toffees than box C. The difference between top and second top box is square of an odd number below five.

Data Sufficiency
Direction: (5-7): Each of the following questions below consists of a question and two statements numbered I and II given below it. You have to decide whether the data provided in the statements are sufficient to answer the question. Read both the statements and give answer.
5) Nine persons J, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q and R are lives on different floors of a building having nine floors (Ground floor is numbered 1, the floor just above it is numbered 2 and so on till 9th floor). How many persons live between the floors of Q and R?
I). Same number of persons lives above and below J. Two persons live between N and J. Five persons live between K and M. There are four floors between floor of N and R. P does not live on even number floor.
II). Two persons live between P and Q. There are as many personslives between O and Q as between O and L. Q live above L. Only one person lives between P and K. P lives above M. N lives on the adjacent floor of K.
A) if the data in statement I alone are sufficient to answer the question, while the data in statement II alone are not sufficient to answer the question.
B) if the data in statement II alone are sufficient to answer the question, while the data in statement I alone are not sufficient to answer the question.
C) if either the data in statement I alone or in statement II alone are sufficient to answer the question.
D) if the data in both the statements I and II together are not sufficient to answer the question.
E) if the data in both the statements I and II are together necessary to answer the question.
6) Eight friends P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, and W are sitting around a square table in such a way that four of them sit at four corners while the other four sit in the middle of each of the four sides. Those who sit at the four corners face the center while those who sit in the middle of the sides face outside (Opposite to the center). How many people sit between R and T?
I). V sits second to the right of R. R sits in the middle of one of the sides of table. Only two people sit between V and Q. S is one of the immediate neighbor of Q. P sits second to the left of U. T sits second to the left of S. V is not an immediate neighbour of U.
II). W sits at one of the corners. Q sits second to the left of W. P sit opposite to Q and sitsimmediate right of R. Only one person sits between S and R. U sits on the immediate right of S. V is not a neighbor of Q.
7) Nine boxes A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H and I are kept one above the other but not necessarily in the same order. No two boxes are placed adjacent to each other according to the English alphabet (i.e. box A is not kept immediately above or below box B, B is not kept immediately or below box A and box C and so on).
Which box is kept immediately above box H?
I). Four boxes are kept between box F and I , which is kept just below box B. Neither box F nor box I is kept at the top or at the bottom. Two boxes are kept between box B and box G.
II). Box E is kept above box C but not immediately above. Box H is not kept in the bottom five. More than three boxes are kept below box F. Only one box is kept between box A and box D, and both are placed above box B.
A) if the data in statement I alone are sufficient to answer the question, while the data in statement II alone are not sufficient to answer the question.
B) if the data in statement II alone are sufficient to answer the question, while `the data in statement I alone are not sufficient to answer the question.
C) if either the data in statement I alone or in statement II alone are sufficient to answer the question.
D) if the data in both the statements I and II together are not sufficient to answer the question.
E) if the data in both the statements I and II are together necessary to answer the question.
Inequality
Direction (8-9): In the following questions, the symbols α, β, γ, δ and ε are used with the following meaning as illustrated below:
‘X α Y’ means ‘X is neither smaller than nor equal to Y’.
‘X β Y’ means ‘X is not smaller than Y’.
‘X γ Y’ means ‘X is neither smaller than nor greater than Y’.
‘X δ Y’ means ‘X is neither greater than nor equal to Y’.
‘X ε Y’ means ‘X is not greater than Y’.
Now in each of the following questions assuming the given statements to be true, find which of the conclusion given below them is true?
8) Statements:
X α U, V δ X, X β Y, Z δ X, W α Z
Conclusions:
I). U γ Y
II). V γ Z

B) Either Conclusion I or II is true.
C) Both Conclusions I and II are true.
D) Either Conclusion II or III is true.
E) Both Conclusions II and III are true.
9) Statement
D α B, E β D, G α C, A ε G, B γ G
Conclusions:
I). A δ D
II). A α D
III). C γ A
A) Both Conclusion I and II are true.
B) Only Conclusion II is true.
C) Only Conclusions III is true.
D) Either Conclusion II or III is true.
E) None of these
Statement-Argument
Directions (10): In each question below is given a statement followed by two arguments numbered I and II. You have to consider the statement and the following arguments and decide which of the arguments is strong and which of the argument is weak.
10) Statement: Haryana police have introduced unique bar coding
software “Trakea” to enable foolproof security of the samples collected in Forensic
reports.
Arguments:
I). The software is android based and has been prepared in an application format.
Therefore, usage becomes simple. It can be well integrated with the judicial system
and doing so will help reduce time lags. Above all, the system helps in reducing
malpractices greatly.
II). The Software features two stages of bar coding to maintain the secrecy of the
samples. The samples and reports are sent through biometrically authorized chain.
The cases are allocated to the biotechnology experts through automated case
allocation.
Answers :
Directions (1-4) :
Seven boxes are placed one above the other like a stack. Each box contains some toffees.
No box contains number of toffees greater than 64 and less than 16.
Box G has 35 toffees and placed either at top or bottom. The highest number of toffees containing box is placed third from the bottom. Box G contains ten more toffees than box C. Only the top and bottom boxes contain multiple of five number of toffees. The top of the box contains fewer toffees than that of bottom box. The number of toffees in the box A and box D are square and cube of one even number which is below five respectively. So the option in the statement we get 2 or 4 only. We get 4 as 16 and 64. D is 64 and A is 16. Two boxes are placed between box A and box D. The difference between top and second top box is square of an odd number below five. The number of toffees in box B is half of the number of toffees in box D. So box B contains 32 toffees. More than one box is placed above the third highest toffee box which is Box E and Box E has four more toffees than box B. So box E contains 36 toffees. Two boxes are placed between box E and box F.
The difference between fifth and second highest toffee boxes is the number of toffees in the box A. So box A contains 16 toffees and fifth highest toffee box which is box B contains 32 toffees. So second highest number of toffee box has 48 toffees, i.e is F. Second highest toffee box is placed above the highest number of toffee box.
Case 1 gets eliminated as Second highest toffee box is placed above the highest number of toffee box.
1) Answer: D
2) Answer: C
3) Answer: E
4) Answer: A
5) Answer: E
From I and II both, two persons live between floors of Q and R.
6) Answer: C
From I, three persons sit between R and T.
From II, three persons sit between R and T.
7) Answer: D
Data is not sufficient even using I and II both.
8) Answer: A
According to the given information,
Statements: X α U, V δ X, X β Y, Z δ X, W α Z
On converting: X > U, V < X, X ≥ Y, Z < X, W > Z
On combining: Y ≤ X; X > Z < W; U < X > V
Conclusions:
I). U γ Y → U = Y → False (as U < X, Y ≤ X; U = Y is not possible)
II). V γ Z → V = Z → False (as X > V, X > Z, clear relation between V and Z cannot be determined)
III). W α X → W > X → False (as X > Z < W; clear relation between W and X cannot be determined)
Hence none is true.
9) Answer: E
Statements: D α B, E β D, G α C, A ε G, B γ G
On converting: D > B, E ≥ D, G > C, A ≤ G, B = G
On combining: A ≤ G = B < D ≤ E; G > C
Conclusions:
I). A δ D → A < D → True
II). A α D → A > D → False (as A ≤ G = B < D, so A<d)< p=””></d)<>
III). C γ A → C = A → False (as A ≤ G; G > C, clear relation between A and D cannot be determined)
Hence, only conclusion I is true. Therefore, “none of the above” is true.
10) Answer: A
Haryana police have introduced unique barcoding software “Trakea” to enable
foolproof security of the samples collected in Forensic reports. According to the police,
Trakea ensures foolproof security of the samples collected from the scene of the
crime, and the forensic analysis reports, and is different from traditional methods that
the state police force has been following for decades. Argument II says about the
procedure. So only argument I is strong.
