 SSC Stenographer Exam Pattern
The SSC Stenographer exam is conducted in two-tier. The tier-1 Exam is a Computer Based Test conducted online. Tier-2 is the shorthand skill test. The transcription is to be done on computer and shorthand notes will be in shorthand notepads. All the details of the SSC Stenographer Exam Pattern for Group-C & Group-D are given below.
1. SSC Stenographer Exam Pattern Tier-1
The tier-1 exam is a computer-based exam. A total of 200 questions asked of 200 marks answered in 2 hours. The questions asked are of multiple choice. The questions asked are from General Awareness, General Reasoning & Intelligence, and English Language. Let’s have look at the SSC Stenographer Exam Pattern of the Exam tier-1.

 Note:
- The SSC Stenographer exam is conducted in bilingual Language both in Hindi and English.
- There will be a negative marking of ¼ mark on each wrong answer and 1 for each right answer.
- It’s a multiple-choice computer-based exam.
2. SSC Stenographer Exam Pattern Tier-2 Exam
The candidates who qualify for the Computer Based Examination have to appear in the Skill Test for Stenography. The candidates will be given one dictation for 10 minutes in English or Hindi. The Skill Test is qualifying in nature.
The SSC stenographer tier-2 exam is a skill-based typing test. The test will be conducted both in offline and online mode. The first is a typing test on a computer, and the second is a shorthand writing test on the note pad. The skill test language can be either English or Hindi. You have to choose the language while filling the form.
For shorthand writing, the candidates will be dictated a passage at the following speed.
- For Stenographer Group -D: 80 words per minute (w.p.m) for 8 Minutes
- Stenographer Group- C: 100 words per minute (w.p.m) for 10 Minutes
The candidates will have to transcribe the same of shorthand typing on the computer. The transcription time is as follows:
