The TNPL – Tamilnadu Newsprint and Papers Limited has been established in the year 1979. TNPL falls under state-owned financial services company in India. The headquarters of TNPL is located in Chennai.  There are nearly 2770 employees working in the Tamilnadu Newsprint and Papers Limited.  There are two plants one is located at Kagithapuram, is a paper plant located in Karur district Commissioned in the year 1985, and the TNPL cement plant was also incorporated in Karur district in the year 2013.

The other Unit is located at Mondipatti, Trichy, commissioned in the year which is a paper board plant. As environmental protection measures TNPL undertaken the following projects, TNPL Effluent Water Lift Irrigation Society, TNPL Plantation Programme, Farm Forestry, Captive Plantation, Clonal Propagation and Research Center, Forestry research and development, Solid waste management and lot more. TNPL has also awarded Environmental Strategy award in the year 2011, awarded as best paper Mill in the 2001-02 and also in the year 2007-2008. TNPL has awarded with n number of awards.
